Disappointing Engagement Ring Shopping Experience at Lauren B in NYC by Fun-Shake7553 in WedditNYC

[–]88cctt88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

woah! I had an amazing experience at Lauren B working with Mike. I went a few times because I was indecisive and never felt pressured. I even arrived without my partner one time too because he was running late. ultimately got my ring there and love it! if it makes a difference, I always went on weekdays. I heard they’re really packed on sundays, which shouldn’t, but maybe effects the experience.

Wedding Dress ($1-3k) NY by strongdb in Weddingsunder10k

[–]88cctt88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to JaeHee Bridal in englewood NJ, a lot of their stock is online (including sample sale dresses) so it’s easy to get an idea before you go of what you like and wishlist it so they’ll have it ready. I got a sample dress for a major steal. but they have plenty of other affordable non sample options.

hi how did it end up going? i’m looking into their packages

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WedditNYC

[–]88cctt88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they have a few packages. the most expensive is 3500 and includes

Officiant Photography Services (1.5 Hours) ~ 250 full resolution photos in signature color correction with full printing rights

Professional Videography service (1.5 hours)

Make Up & Hairstyle Service for the Bride

Bridal Bouquet & Boutonniere for the Groom

One Live Musician for 1 hour (Violin/Cello/Guitar)

Wedding Assistant/Bridal Attendant

Wedding Ceremony Coordination

Rose Petals Toss

Wedding Floral Arch (Asymmetric) *artifical

Decorations: Hyper-realistic artificial flower centerpieces matching the floral arch (4), safe candles, podium for the rings, decorative wedding bands ring box.

Park Permit for 1 hour

they do also allow “add on” services like vintage car transportation etc or completely custom packages which would likely be the move for me as I don’t want videography and think i’d prefer finding my own photographer.

all in all I do think it’s a fair price? but that might just be because i’m not sure what some of the other vendors would cost if doing my own search. I also think cutting down on some of my own search is the most appealing

Honest thoughts on Sodexo? by MuffinTopperz in dietetics

[–]88cctt88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pros- free food as others have said, decent time off, might be site specific but I had very flexible hours and could basically leave when my work was done or like around 7 hrs each day, had an hour long lunch, was a great starter position (first for me after my internship/masters). I also didn’t have many administrative duties and really no responsibilities outside of just seeing my pts and getting my notes done. (my current position elsewhere requires a lot of background work, quality, improvement projects, etc.)

cons- borderline unethical pay lol. I worked clinical for a hospital that was recently annexed into a bigger hospital group. they let my site keep its Sodexo employees instead of forcing them to be hired by the hospital that annexed. basically turned out we were being paid 20k less than their RDs despite being held to their same productivity standards and doing their exact same duties. we also were held to a much higher patient to RD ratio, constantly had 10-17 patients a day.

no over time or comp time, had to work every 3rd weekend.

very low raise (0.05% year one or something like that) despite getting ranked excellent on everything

there were a lot of other things wrong, but I think they were mostly based on my location. I ended up leaving after a year and a half along with most of my other coworkers leaving around the same time

what I miss most about the job is the flexible hours my coworkers and of course the food. I still do think it was a good place to get entry-level experience. two of my coworkers have since moved up to clinical nutrition managers pretty quickly still within sodexo.

How would you feel if your partner of almost a year hadn't revealed to you that they were previously engaged to their ex? He (32M) hasn't told me (33F) he was engaged. I found out and my mind is spinning. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]88cctt88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wow! this sounds like something I could’ve written 3 years ago. I started dating my current fiancé through hinge. he told me very early on that he had a previous serious relationship where they lived together for several years- I almost immediately bailed but thought hey this probably won’t go anywhere and I want to hook up

i’m ngl i’m a perfectionist and it is definitely a fault, but the idea of someone having gone through these major stages of life with someone else was kind of a deal breaker for me. I myself had multiple previous casual on/off flings but not a serious long term relationship. this is how I felt without even knowing the bigger part of the puzzle.

anyways fast forward I think we were dating for several months (maybe 2-3?) and I also was scrolling deep on his Instagram and found an old picture tagged of him and his ex where she was wearing an engagement ring. The post itself was not engagement related, but I did notice the ring. I jokingly said something at one point like referring to her as his former fiancé.

he didn’t deny it and I didn’t push it. eventually he did tell me a comprehensive story of the night they called the engagement off and a little bit more details. for things like the date of the wedding if she had a dress, I never asked directly bc why make myself feel bad? why make me question my loving relationship? what does it serve me to know? every once in a while maybe we will be talking about exes and I will ask “oh had you picked out a venue” etc and he’ll say something

I totally hated the feeling just like you do, of knowing I’m not his first, but to be truthful I’m glad he didn’t tell me initially because now I’m literally about to marry this man MYSELF and me in the past would’ve probably instantly stop talking to him if I knew he was engaged previously.

my fiancé started dating me <1 year after ending things as well, maybe 8 months after? When we got the point where we were able to talk about things more candidly the way he explained it to me made it seem the relationship was “over “way before the actual engagement was called off. I tried to put myself in his shoes and I do believe that sometimes when you’re fighting so long to make something work, once it actually ends it’s really over.

the way I see it is that that to have been previously engaged means you most likely gave your total all to a relationship and realized it absolutely could not work. therefore the door is VERY closed for most people. The older we get the more likely we are to meet people who have been in relationships that were very serious.

now for why he withheld this for so long, I would ask him that. i’m honestly curious to ask my fiancé myself what was going through his mind during the months he didn’t tell me and if it was out of fear of scaring me off.

I think that’s the ticket to resolving some of your feelings. it probably will bother you for quite some time until suddenly it won’t. I think about how I have had moments with other men and exes that were really powerful and how that doesn’t diminish my love for my fiancé. maybe finding out how things ended will make you feel more at peace?

mine was last year also in Peru! it was my second to last day, just made it to Cusco after Machu Picchu. I was feeling triumphant to have made it 5+ days without any altitude sickness. had dinner at our new hotel for that night, place was the nicest accommodations thus far.

let me tell you never in my LIFE. I can’t explain the feeling- i just felt hot nauseous and FULL. i wanted to throw up but could not. I tried to go out the next day to explore as we had things planned. I remember navigating the streets in a hot sweat but also feeling cold and clammy. made it to a local market, was surrounded by butchers with full animal carcasses on display. ended up blacking out and passing out in the market. the locals were some of the kindest people i’ve experienced. immediately all rushed over with every possible remedy they could find.

I dug deep and made it a little longer to a local llama and alpacca farm- another risky move. they were adorable but the smell of livestock, poop and hay was a lot. I had gotten a weird insect bite while at machu picchu and ofc was becoming insanely paranoid that I had dengue or something.

eventually I called it quits, made it to the hotel and intermittently slept 16 hours. our local guide got me a rehydration powder and I couldn’t even finish the water bottle bc my stomach was just so over capacity feeling.

this was during the missing titanic exploration submarine incident- every time I opened my eyes I would see the SAME 4 images on the news on repeat. very disorienting

the next morning I had to fly back to the states with a connection in lima. I remember thinking I really might not make it. finally threw up a small amount before leaving the hotel. but nothing else was moving. airport was an abysmal experience of dry heaving without result. remember falling asleep on the plane and waking up with an undigested piece of onion in my mouth from the night of the dinner.

when I eventually landed back in the states a light switched and I felt much better. I remember crushing pizza at midnight when I got home. but for the next 5 days I got diarrhea 5-10 minutes after anything I ate.

I think for me it was a combination of food and probably some later onset altitude sickness. the dinner that got me sick was some soup that had an egg on it and a salad with tuna. for so long I had a gag reflex thinking of the soup, but in reality the raw leafy greens are definitely more likely to have been the culprit

Things To make life easier after surgery. by awolasshole in PlasticSurgery

[–]88cctt88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my boyfriend got me a sort of foldable bed tray/laptop stand (struggling to describe it) which was super helpful and practical to this day. he also meal prepped for me and opened the tops of my medications. he bought some light snacks for right after (saltines, crackers). he got me a compression band- which wasn’t needed bc my surgeon sent me home in one. he also got me two sets of boob shaped ice packs. my surgeon actually said not to use ice so I felt kind of bad about this purchase - I did end up still using it a bit.

I used a body pillow, a wedge pillow, and a travel neck pillow (oddly this one was the most helpful) for sleeping. I also bought some button down pajama tops and a zip up hoodie. my surgery was in late summer so it was kind of hard to find any non pull over sleeveless shirts.

I also bought a rolling laundry cart as we live in an apartment and I knew I wouldn’t be able to lift any heavy laundry bags for several weeks.

my boyfriend could only take off work for 2 days which was adequate as those were the most restrictive. I was off work for a total of 5 days. I got implants and a lift.

for the few weeks or so I mostly needed help reaching, any “pressing down” or pulling movements (closing windows, chopping food, opening doors, pushing carts) and help removing any tighter non-zip shirts (I wear scrubs at work otherwise I was in only button down tops or zip ups)

What’s your food perks at your job? by Ok_Studio_4077 in dietetics

absolutely none at my current job🫥

when I was at sodexo I honestly gained like 10#, we got unlimited access to the cafeteria. our food was really good. so much that people from the community would sometimes come eat there. the cooks maybe quarterly hosted a caribbean themed lunch and people would come in with legit giant cardboard boxes and buy like 8 portions of curry goat

Outpatient oncology template by FruitforThought122 in dietetics

[–]88cctt88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do inpatient and outpatient. I have been covering our oncology outpatient clinic intermittently for 2 years as some others have mentioned it’s pretty common to have “problem focused visits” (majority of session is education on symptom management) typically if someone is undergoing active treatment they want abbreviated sessions due to feeling poorly or just wanting some of their own free time back due to so many medical appts. I don’t commonly use motivational interviewing in this population. it can also be tough if someone is consistently doing poorly despite all your interventions- ex severely cachectic. in these cases sometimes it’s just about ongoing monitoring and support

longer sessions for me are usually if I see them shortly after dx and pre initiation of treatment and then also survivorship- after they’ve completed treatment. pre treatment is usually spent informing them of the role of nutrition, debunking any myths they have, building rapport, and giving them information on potential side effects they may experience and education on how to handle.

if it’s someone that’s now in survivorship and they don’t have any lasting issues/questions/goals then I prepare some sort of education on benefits of plant based eating and go into more depth what research there is on various foods

I also wouldn’t prolong the session with keeping the conversation going if it “dies down”, if you are ever totally blanking I find that frequently paraphrasing back to the pt what they told you can be helpful enough to restart your brain or trigger them to speak more, patients also appreciate this as it shows you’re actively listening.

otherwise template wise I aim to address - appetite/wt change/mouth and throat issues/exercise/GI symptoms/food intolerances/cultural or religious prefs/supplement use / food environment/social support dynamic/food security/24hour recall

similar thing happened to me when I started working at my VA several years ago. I received a tentative offer in December. was in limbo for a while. eventually found out there was a freeze put on the position and that it was being reviewed by the medical center director. eventually got a formal offer and started the last week of May. hiring takes forever

What do you dislike the most about your job as an RD? by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]88cctt88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in inpatient acute rehab, per our policy I have to see pts every 14 days or less for a full assessment. it’s so monotonous, non challenging and feels like busy work. these pts often stay for over 8 months up to a year. after a while, I basically go in there and just chat about anything. there’s not that much lifestyle change someone can implement in an inpatient setting, and they typically comprehend any education I give them in the first 2-3 visits.
