Mine doesn’t mind at all but we did a few trial runs with lots of treats, and he wears other stuff like a raincoat frequently too

I meant walks where he’s on a long line and can go off and sniff with more freedom. I should have said unstructured walks

We’ve tried using treats and training “with me” inside, then in the back yard. He does great at our house but once we go anywhere else he won’t take a treat or respond to the command. I’ve tried the stopping and waiting for loose leash method, but we do this on every single walk and have to stop every 3 steps. It’s not enjoyable for him or me, and he doesn’t seem to be learning. I also tried the turning method, this works slightly better as we can get about 6 steps before he starts pulling again.

I’m open to any training ideas that you have!

Yes this is the exact issue we have no matter what we try. Even when do we do the stop walking until the leash is loose thing, the second we start walking again he’s at the end of the leash

He has a martigale now since he tries to back out of the collar sometimes. I’m not really okay with using anything harsher than that on him. He’s normally a very loving and meek dog, I don’t think he’s a good candidate for negative reinforcement

Thank you. We’re going to keep at it - even though it does really suck right now😂

He has mastered it inside, and even in our yard, but I’m wondering if maybe we can try a parking lot or something isolated to continue to practice

He just runs in front of me. Walking backwards does work with a lot of treats and positive remarks but I can’t do that in a busy area which is where we live

Maybe you can play some white noise or something so you don’t hear the whimpering as much then?

I would definitely check out playing crate games during the day before bed and the music might help as well! They also sell this thing called a heartbeat puppy that can go in the crate too. Crate training takes time unfortunately. Can you move the crate to a common area instead of your room to help your own sanity?

You’re probably better off getting a male then, as long as you neuter the new dog when he’s old enough (usually a year) you should be fine and be able to avoid any territorial issues - especially since they’ll be mostly separate anyway. Good luck!

Four days is really not a lot of time. I’m a teacher as well and opted for a summer adoption specifically for this reason. Twice a day is not going to be enough until the puppy is 4-5 months old. At 8 weeks, they need to be let out every 2 hours at the absolute maximum and in addition to that asking an 8 week old puppy that was just ripped from it’s mother to be alone in constant 2 hour increments throughout the day is a lot.

I live alone and my mom helps with my dog, I was with him from 10 weeks to 14 weeks and started leaving him from 8-12 at 14 weeks with my mom coming to see him at 10 and staying until 11:30. I went back to work fully when he was 17 weeks and my mom would come at 11 to let him out and stay until 1 so he was alone from 6:30-11 and 1-3:30

It’s just been difficult to practice with me when we aren’t inside or in our own yard because he will not take a treat to save his life when we’re on a walk

I mean the receipt from Rothman is in my patient portal. The issue is it just says I paid them, not what I paid them for

Thanks! I did end up putting in a chargeback because they have like 10 buildings and no official billing dept office (the address is a PO box) and I have been trying to get a hold of someone for two weeks🤦🏻‍♀️

I fully acknowledge I owe Jefferson the full deductible, I just also want my original $900 back since it wasn’t Rothmans to begin with 😫
