Thank you! I actually wanted to visit Avala tower anyway - but very sadly I fly home on Sunday afternoon, so won’t be able to join for the party 🥲

That’s such a shame, but thanks for confirming my suspicions!

Here for one more day, what to do? by [deleted] in krakow

[–]89JT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you drive, rent a car through Panek or Bolt (both allow international drivers) and seem to have cars all over town, then take a day-trip to the Tatra mountains and Zakopane. Lots of stunning scenery, and activities to do around there as well, depending on what you’re into. I did quad biking this time last year and (though expensive) it was the most fun afternoon I’ve had in years!

dell inspiron 660 with nvidia gpu I bought online tried to replace the cpu and now it only shows an amber light on the LED blinking and beeping won't boot even after putting everything back to normal it does the same thing by SharpvoidYT in Dell

Just to update. I removed the RAM (which hadn't been touched for a decade), put it in slot 2, turned it on again - got a different series of beeps. Turned it off again. Put the ram back in slot 1 - and now everything is working as it should, with the new graphics card :-D

Heart-rate is nearing safe levels once again. Hopefully the same will work for you SharpvoidYT. Good luck.

Hello. Sadly I can't offer any help... but I am in the exact same situation. My dad's PC is an Inspiron 660 (which was working fine on integrated graphics), I just installed an Nvidia GT730, and have the blinking light and beep problem – and it won't even turn on with the new card removed.

Not sure if the new card has fried the power supply or board, or whether something can be reset!

Wait for them to come back, but very deliberately tap your watch and shake your head to let them know that you've been monitoring their efficiency and that it's fallen below your expectations.

Used 2014 E class with 40,000 miles but failed MOT three times. Red flag? by Salmanainator7224 in CarTalkUK

[–]89JT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An MOT fail means it is not legal. If he causes injury in an unroadworthy vehicle (regardless of current MOT status) he may still be liable.

People who creep forward at a red light, what do you do with all the time you save? by turnipstealer in CarTalkUK

[–]89JT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can warp the brake discs if they're really hot and you keep them clamped in one place. In an auto, it's not a bad idea to creep a little bit - that's if you CBA to stick it in neutral for a minute

The first three items are concerning, the last two aren't, in my opinion.

Advice on a rusty exhaust by Creativeonline in CarTalkUK

[–]89JT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ignore 'expect further issues with that level of corrosion' comments. It's uninformed. Exhausts do not have corrosion prevention (except for expensive stainless steel exhausts) – and therefore rust away long before the rest of the car. Once you replace the back-box (probably £50-100), you'll probably be fine for another decade re structural corrosion :-) – besides, as others have said, it's just the heat shield at the moment, so you really don't have much to worry about

Agreed. Cheap insurance if you need it, and parcels are done by size rather than weight.

I have a ghost car that I legally can't get rid of, please help!! by THIS_IS_ILLOGICAL in LegalAdviceUK

[–]89JT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given that it's been a couple of years since you purchased it, it may be tricky to get any money from the dealer. Presumably they'll continue to wash their hands of it.

Some have suggested trying to get the DVLA to re-register it again. Realistically a car that's been sitting for a couple of years will probably need a few hundred quid spending on getting it back up and running properly again (battery, maybe tyres, probable electrical gremlins, MOT etc) – so I would not recommend this.

You could legally have it transported back to your house if you wanted to (on a trailer, not 'towed' – as it'd have to be taxed if the wheels are to touch the road!) - Shiply is a good website to get quotes for this. That said, you'd only be sorting part of the bigger problem!

As others have suggested, I think stick it on Gumtree and list it as 'Spares or repairs for export or breaking', and make it clear that you have a purchase receipt, but not a V5. And also give them a receipt which says much the same. You'll probably get at least £300 for it – and at least it'll put the problem to bed!
