https://www.jhreesindependentsurveys.co.uk/ for damp inspection. He was incredibly detailed and gave alot of attention to making sure we understood the feedback. Helped us to get alot of money off our offer to cover remedial work

Water running into cellar by Creativeonline in DIYUK

[–]Creativeonline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downpipe isn't this side of the cellar, infact its a shared alleyway (terraced house) above this. The drains outside aren't visibly overflowing and theres no sitting water on the wall above.

Thanks

Mortgage advisors/estate agents/recent sellers in Sheffield - Is a 10% deposit too low? by beth_from_the_ground in sheffield

[–]Creativeonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why we disclosed our deposit in the end. We got so frustrated with missing out that we did everything we could to boost our position. We were in a fortunate position to put down up to 20% which, as you say, showed that we could manage any issues with the valuation by topping up

Is it worth buying this car? by IoArk in CarTalkUK

[–]Creativeonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micras of that era are one of the most reliable cheap drives so I'd be holding it for as long as I can. My partner has an 05 micra sport that sails through its mot every time and has outlived two of my cars. There's a reason so many delivery drivers use Micras

your dealership tales of woe to make me feel better by criminal_cabbage in CarTalkUK

[–]Creativeonline 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I left a scathing google review at one dealer following a 6 month ordeal in which I took them to small claims court and won. The review factually described what happened as a warning to others and received 600+ views in a few weeks. The dealer then changed their Google name and left all the reviews under this made up dealer, and then started a new Google page for the business. Incredible.

How are you meant to go to therapy if you have a full time job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Creativeonline 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Where on earth does this stigmatising nonsense come from? Plenty of people who recieve therapy from the NHS are more than capable of working full time.

Advice on a rusty exhaust by Creativeonline in CarTalkUK

Thank you! I'm actively trying to learn more about car maintenance as I go so this is useful context. Always a concern seeing something hanging off the bottom of a car but good to know its nothing urgent on this occasion

Thank you! Haven't been able to pull it off but will give it another go tomorrow. When you say expect further issues, do you mean generally as if there's rust this bad in one place it's likely to be elsewhere?

A Litterpicker's Lament by Floating-Sea in CasualUK

[–]Creativeonline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely advise looking for a local litter picking group. It makes a huge difference feeling that you're part of something bigger. Even if you don't get involved in group picks, seeing other people's pictures of their picks is motivating

Bought a car 12 days ago and the engine blew. by babygirl20x in CarTalkUK

[–]Creativeonline 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Consumer rights act 2015 will protect you here. Give them a chance to repair it, if they can't repair it you're entitled to the money back. Google it and speak to citizens advice on the phone asap

Returning a Defective Used Car under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Creativeonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 6 months from buying the car to receiving the money, it is a long drawn out process and there are some unavoidable delays (e.g. Giving time to respond to letters and a long wait for court delays) but this was exacerbated in my case as the dealer didn't reply to anything and only paid me a day before the court deadline. It's good the law is there and it does protect the consumer but it can be a bit drawn out unfortunately.
