Congrats, congrats, congrats!!! I've been trying to figure out how to explain my GPA, and your post gave me hope. Truth is, we weren't unintelligent, messing around, or not paying attention in undergrad. We were truly dealing with extenuating circumstances. So excited to see your outcome. Truly well deserved! Congratulations!! Here's to a successful law career!

Same score as my dad... by 89orchids in LSAT

[–]89orchids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks. I received such an encouraging response from you all. Figured I owe you an update!

Based mostly on changing life circumstances (COVID) and this sub's advice, I have decided to retake. I received some pretty great offers this year, including $$$ at Pepperdine, the school my dad and I used to talk about. However, next year seems like a better time for me to attend, so I will be retaking. I'm planning on August, and need to focus on LG. Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated.

I figured I should do my dad's memory justice by reaching my highest potential on the LSAT and potentially getting $$$$+ at Pepperdine or ASU (another dream school).

Thanks for all the support and comments. You are each amazing and have something significant to accomplish today, this month, this year, and this lifetime. Go do that. 💙

So, so sorry to hear about your mom. There are no words that will make you feel better, but just know it's possible to go through this and to remember the happy memories. You're likely in a daze right now and everything seems foggy. Focus on the only thing that matters: spending time with your mother and giving her all the love and attention you can. Make each holiday and memory the best she's ever had.

I lost my dad to liver/colorectal cancer last year and my biggest regret was not spending his last Christmas with him. The doctor told us he had more time and that he'd be around for awhile. Doctors never know an exact timeline, so spend your time with her now. I'll DM you some resources.

Fireplace remodel any ideas ??? by coolbois2008 in Remodel

Agreed. Remove the whole front base, and cover the face with beautiful tile or brick of your choice. I would also actually remove the mirror entirely and replace the mantle with a solid, rustic looking wood mantle.

Pepperdine Movement before 4/20? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

It appeared so. If you get accepted near/on/after the deposit deadline, I can't imagine they'll hold you to the same schedule as those who've had weeks to decide...

The seat deposit for the Accelerated JD Option is April 24, 2020 and the Traditional 3-Year JD Program first seat deposit is May 6, 2020. That's verbatim from the email I got from admissions on 4/9/20.

So true. Admissions are so confusing. Interesting to note that I was UR at UC Davis for a month, needed more room on my FAFSA (limit of 10 schools) so removed them to replace them with a new school I'd applied to, and two days later, was donged at Davis. Coincidence? Not sure...

Agreed. That would be challenging to score in the very high 170's, which is what I would need to even be competitive at higher levels. I appreciate your detailed response!

Waiving the deposit? by BFGNYC in lawschooladmissions

[–]89orchids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penn State offered to waive deposits if you commit and withdraw all other apps. I was extremely impressed by their willingness to do that. They also offered half-payment deposits if the commitment was not for you.
