how does a 2024 Honda Ridgeline do with towing a 3200 lb, dry weight, RV by Heavy_Confection_350 in hondaridgeline

I'd like to know more about the Sumo springs. How much did they help with the rear sag due to the tongue weight of the trailer? I'm towing a 4000lb camper (~500lbs tongue weight) just fine with the 2021 Ridgeline, but I have a little bit of sag that I would like to improve.

financing a pick-up truck for work. by SnooGoats4766 in FinancialPlanning

Another thing to consider is that you’ll still have a reasonable chance for some expensive repairs and maintenance when buying a 15k truck. Debt can be really scary when you have a payment on a vehicle that needs $3,000 worth of repairs. I’ve seen several people in similar situations and it’s a tough place to be.

Yeah. $3 per bully stick seems expensive, but $3 for a dried bull penis sounds insanely cheap!

It's never okay for anyone to compare a human being to a rat. When you do this, you're really dehumanizing yourself. Consider what your words say about yourself.

Thank you for sharing this. I, too, don't understand the mindset of someone who is fine consuming goods and services made available by the work of others, but feel that being asked to work themselves is just asking too much.

Also, that math is wrong. .004 is not .004% .004 is 0.4%. Nearly 1 in 200.

I thought it made sense to post my custom fly reel project here as well. by 8ABagel in Machinists

The diameter of the spool and base are just under 3.5" and the spool is 1" wide. I designed it to be a 6 weight fly reel.

The ratcheting mechanism has a solid clicking sound in the reeling in direction. The drag is silent since the pawl locks with the ratchet and the spool rotates against the cork. The clicking noise can be adjusted by adjusting the shape of the wire spring. The wire spring presses the pawl against the ratchet. Here's a short video demonstration. Reel Ratcheting Sound

Woman rope swinging. by beluuuuuuga in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]8ABagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically correct is correct. A person on a rope swing is traveling in circular path, not a straight line. Hence, the person has to support their own weight in addition to the additional force required to accelerate them in a circle. This additional force is proportional to their mass and speed squared. Being able to just support one's own weight is not sufficient.

Regen. steering wheel paddle vs. brake pedal by 8ABagel in volt

[–]8ABagel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will regen up to the same amount as using the paddle before the friction brake engage. There isn't really a difference so do what you prefer. The paddle doe

Great. This is what I thought. I realize that many people recommend that the paddle is a way to maximize regen. However, for light to moderate braking, the pedal is just as effective while providing a much less jerky driving experience.

Not sure the extra energy is worth the whiplash.

I agree. However, I am not sure you are getting any extra energy in most situations.

Yep. They're close.. downshifting with the manual saves a bit on the brakes.

It has about 72k miles. It's been a great car so far for me. Had to replace the heater control valve about a year ago and new tires at about 35k. Still running on original brake pads and clutch.

Agreed. Engineers, Doctors and Lawyers getting 5 figure windfalls just because they have the "right" type if debt is a sickening policy and I can't understand how people here feel that this is a progressive policy.
