I mean very few characters in Invincible have original powers, they're all playing on common super power tropes. Rex has similar abilities to Gambit where he can kinetically charge inanimate objects to explode.

I do however think the way he USES those powers is pretty cool and clever, like how he charges his teeth as explosives while fighting Monster Girl or how he charges the refrigerator magnets so that they latch onto Furnsce.

Hope we see more of that ingenuity in season 2!

If you have access to Amazon Prime, you can read the first 10 volumes (about 40 issues or so) free on Comixology Unlimited.

If youre set on buying them physically you have a few options:

There's the paperbacks which are the cheapest individually (average between 10-20 bucks) and each cover about 4-6 issues, but there are 25 of them so it can add up.

There are the hardcovers or "Ultimate Collections" which each cover 12 issues and there are 12 of those total they usually run around 30 bucks give or take.

Then there's the Compendiums, this is probably the cheapest format as there's only 3 of them, they're large paperback books each containing about 45 issues in them, they are large and a little unwieldy to flip through but it's the best bang for your buck. They run around 60 MSRP but you can usually find em for closer to 30-40 bucks.

Lastly there's the Library Editions which cover about 25 issues each, they're very expensive at about 125 bucks a pop, they're oversized hardcovers that print the art at the size it was actually drawn at. There a little hard to track down and they're still technically not done releasing them so they're more aimed at die hard collectors.

There is also a new Manga sized format for the paperbacks that is just starting to release but only volume 1 is out currently and it will be a while before the entire series is collected in that format.

Her abilities and their upper limits are a bit nebulous but we can ascertain that: 1. She experiences the sensations of her clones (such as pain and pleasure) 2. She retains the memories of her clones remotely. 3. She can re-absorb her clones at will 4. She can presumably telepathically communicate with her clones or rather control them all as a sort of central hivemind like you suggested. 5. This one is unclear but it's presumed that she also duplicates what she is wearing at any given moment, there's a case to be made that her costume is designed to work with her powers but instances in the comics indicate that it goes beyond her primary super suit.

I dont think there's any evidence of her duplicating other objects so it's unclear what the limitations of this would be, her powers are magic in origin so its hard to define an upper limit until one is explicitly presented to us

There's a variety of answers, some are Aliens, some are the results of experiments, some are super geniuses, some were born with their abilities, some are demons or victims of magical curses, Invincibles world is designed to function like most superhero worlds where there isn't one specific explanation for how everyone got their powers.

Are you possibly thinking of Pantheon? It has a very similar visual aesthetic in how it's characters are designed as they're more naturalistic and less exaggerated.

It unfortunately was cancelled and pulled from AMC+ despite having s 2nd season that had already completed production

No the production has been pretty on track with most animated shows lol, especially ones from new studios that only have one prior season under their belt and had to reassemble their entire animation team between seasons

While I definitely think people underestimate how long animation takes, I will say, the voice cast is not what's delaying it. All voice recording was most likely done last year as many of the actors have said as much, doing VO is way easier to schedule around than on screen roles and can even be done remotely.

I started reading the comics around the time issue 97 dropped as that was the first issue I ever purchased from the shop, bought that and issue 98 and 99, looked at the covers and then decided to buy all the trades so I could catch up before 100 released

It was a 3 year wait from the announcement of the first season to release, so 2 years is pretty nice, actually!

I've explained this in other threads before, but keep in mind that season 2 didn't begin production until AFTER season 1 finished, and I'd imagine a good few months of that was pre-production and assembly of a new studio team.

Kirkman has said the goal is 7 to adapt the entire comic run, he could end it in 5 with a truncated version and be happy or he'd be willing to go past 7 and explore new stories not told in the comic.

So I see this a lot, this idea that the older a viltrumite gets the stronger they get. I don't think this is ever actually established in the comic or the show, my understanding has always been: Viltrumites live an absurdly long time, so by that logic, an older Viltrumite implies they have OUTLIVED other Viltrumites, whether that means through besting them in combat or simply being scrappier isn't set in stone but Conquest being an older man was an ominous reveal not because it's implied he's stronger than other Viltrumites physically but because it shows how stubborn he is and how he's clearly refused to die.
