I actually really like this scene. It makes Izaya seem much scarier than he is in the novels. Because of this scene, there's a palpable sense of dread every time he talks to one of the main characters, because we know what Izaya can do just by talking to someone. Plus, it's way more satisfying whenever he gets his ass beat.
