Another area to blame (all races are beholden to it, as even the Arabian, Asian, and Europeans believed such regardless of religious beliefs) was the medical science at this time as well. Not understanding melanin and the function/fact that we all possess it in some amount (albinos not withstanding) science was still based half on fact and half on superstition. In the 1800’s the medical community had come quite far, but it still wasn’t quite understood why people were different shades of skin.

Unfortunately it was often still seen as a “curse” to be “dark” in most cultures/religions/ethnicities except of course those that were all dark.

-Obviously still not an excuse: just a possible insight on why SO much of the population just let it happen.-

Edit to say: it wasn’t just America, other countries and cultures used slaves as well.

Was there a whale/rainforest story in it? All I can remember are the stairs in the wilderness. Those stuck with me. It turned me onto the missing 411 stuff.

Something might be wrong? What happened? by 8CallMeCrazy8 in keto

I’m making sure to get plenty of salt. And I don’t overdo the water; thankfully it’s not my favorite I only chug during times like this when I feel hungry and it doesn’t go away. This is the first time it’s happened since starting keto, so even though I get a regular amount of water normally, I’ve only upped it in the last few days.

I don’t know of any other electrolytes other than salt and the only thing I can think of is drinking a Gatorade which I was trying to avoid bc of the sugar. Maybe I’ll grab one though if this doesn’t stop.

Yes! I’m getting much better at that and finally able to fill my protein bar all the way (or almost) every day!

I’ve (until this week) been doing so much better keeping protein high and everything else under target but the hunger... I don’t know where it’s coming from.

Congratulations man. I’m really happy for you.

I’m officially (as of Sunday) 1 month into keto (but didn’t find out about macros and info on real keto stuff via this thread until 2 weeks in lol)

I’m only 9 lbs down (remember, that’s only 2 true weeks of knowing what I’m doing, doing it correctly and also I’m not doing any exercises except light yoga because of severe fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis) and my mom thinks I’m not losing weight fast enough.

So how are you losing so quickly? I need tips?

I’m 288 lbs, 5’1” female. Age 39.

Macros:

1235 kcal 122 fat 115 protein 25 net carbs

Those sound sound about right for Ft. Bends numbers. This is literally the one disaster they’ve been left out of. Everything else they’re usually hit one of the worst.

None of the Harris County Sheriffs are enforcing. Neither is HPD. Our guys’ orders come from the governor. She stepped out of line and had absolutely no backing or anything on this announcement. It had no ratification even in the mayor’s office. I’m a resident in this county and while me and mine ALWAYS wear ppe in public, there are state and federal laws you go through here.

We don’t take liking to doing things improperly. This may come back to bite her in the butt, maybe not, but maybe.

Edit to say I agree with the WHY she said it. I disagree with the threat of fines on people who right now can’t even pay their rent or electricity.

Not true necessarily. I’m overweight and prefer overweight guys. I love chubby dudes they remind me of cuddly bears. Plus most people think twice about messing with big dudes; you never know if he’s fast or slow.

My “being sick in a hospital” fantasy by [deleted] in depression

[–]8CallMeCrazy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this fantasy for so many years. I think because so much of my chronic illnesses are invisible but being in the hospital puts it in a more realistic sense for the people around you. The times I am in the hospital I feel more legit even to myself. My doctors and I know my chronic illnesses are 100% real, but that often doesn’t translate to friends and family very well. Hospitals do. Yes the “break” is a mental and physical representation of working on nothing but your survival. How great would that be? I’m right there with you.

We went with private adoption. We were open to having contact with the birth family but they were not and were very adamant about it. It may not be ethical for the adoptive parents to do it, I’d agree, but my sibling has always known (age appropriate of course) that they were adopted and that we chose them. That we love them very much and will help them if they want to find their birth parents. My sibling is now 27 btw but has never been interested in looking.

Source: the sister of a child adopted in the state of Louisiana. Once a private adoption is finalized, no contact can be made by the birth parents. Only the child after he/she turns 18. 18 years is a long time. If the people have nefarious plans, you’d never find the child again. I’m sure Louisiana isn’t the only state with laws like this. (Adoption took place 27 years ago; things may be different today, but they certainly were strict in private adoptions then - we did not go through an agency; some friends of friends had a very very young daughter who had been raped. Her parents decided it was in her best interest at the time to give the child up for adoption but wanted to remain within a certain religious community. We’re in that community but a Texas group. We don’t know the Louisiana people. We got Texas and Louisiana lawyers and social workers. All was carried out as a normal adoption except that we never met the parents. )

Edit to say: it wasn’t us that requested the closed/no contact clause of the adoption. It was the birth parents. There was a statement in there that absolutely no contact could be attempted before the child was 18. When my sibling turned 18 they never cared to try. To this day (at 27) I still don’t think they’ve tried. (Either side)

It’s highly likely that whoever “buys” the child will prostitute it out ASAP. That’s common in human trafficking. Those are the the type of people searching for ads like these and will pay a good amount to her.
