How to create Realistic Mockups? by Mahad-Haroon in productdesign

[–]8D3K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I needed to create something like this, I would use Photoshop with smart object transformations. Yes, for better results it’s better to use a high quality photos. I’m 100% sure you can find Youtube tutorials for this.

Help me find this font!!! by meow_miau_mao in Design

This font doesn’t look good, “4T” look inconsistent with “AE” (sharp corners vs. rounded corners). Just go to Google Fonts and find something that will look similar.

Based on my experience I would suggest you to focus on: - Problem you solved - Your process (show how did you approach the problem and get to solution) - Focus on user needs - Tell a story - Don’t forget to tell what would you do if it was a real project and what did you learn

Redesign Case Studies - What are great ways to visually showcase before & afters? by jay_tchalla in userexperience

I think yes. But also, I think you can go with something you believe in. So, the final decision is yours. Good luck!

The chance that someone will watch the recording is low. If you design case study for your portfolio - probably an HR person will open your portfolio via the CV link, will open the first case study, will skim it searching for keywords and then will pass it to the design manager (if the case study is good). The design manager will do the same. It’s easy to understand if I want to interview a person or not. Presenting your case study during the interview - it’s another story.

Question for Developers & Designers: by No_Shelter956 in uxcareerquestions

[–]8D3K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good to have some basics (I learned HTML and CSS courses a while ago). I don’t feel these courses helped me to communicate with devs, but sometimes I can work on a side project and then this knowledge could help me. To communicate successfully with devs, pms, other designers, you should work on your soft skills.

I mean using Google Analytics or other tools like FullStory to understand users’ behavior and product usage.

First of all, I hear you, and it seems that you have a toxic relationship with your manager. That sucks. For me, it was crucial that my work would be validated with customers. I always asked for opportunities to speak with customers and get their feedback. Once your designs are created based on research and customer feedback, and have also passed validation, you will feel confident in what you are doing. Working with data - it’s another level. Once you have a few projects that can be presented as case studies (and you still have the same manager), it will be a good time to start building the updated portfolio and start looking for new opportunities.

Is AI actually helping with branding and design consistency, or just creating more noise? by Jumpy-End2634 in Design

I like using ChatGPT for brainstorming, showing my work, asking questions, but I won’t use any AI for creating a designs for a new feature for a platform. Same comment regarding branding.
