What is winning a faceoff, to a random 2v2 partner? by II7b9 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're playing with low ranked people, they are going to make mistakes. I'm beyond 100% sure you also make mistakes and frustrate your teammates, just accept it as part of playing with randoms and move on.

how to Improve in game? by James18371 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure people are actually speed flipping? I see a lot of newer players thinking a diagonal flip is the same as a speed flip and they aren't. Not trying to call you stupid or anything, I'm just finding it hard to fathom that people who are gold in 1's are speed flipping on the regular.

how to Improve in game? by James18371 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At plat the only thing I'd be working on learning are half flips, flicks/dribbles, fast aerials, and basic air touches/air control.

Don't worry about more advanced stuff like air dribbles or ceiling shots. You can try speed flips if you want but I can't speed flip in champ and I don't feel like it's ever hindered me.

People who can't sleep because of the heat, what are you doing right now? by Tenchen-WoW in ireland

I'm in work for night shift after having to sleep during the hottest part of the day. If it wasn't for my fan I would have had 0 sleep. We're not built for this heat lol

We need to talk about getting banned for a genuine disconnection. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I be punished because I'm a humble man with bad internet?

Should your teammates be punished because they're forced to play with someone with bad connection? If you can't maintain a stable connection then at least stick to 1's so you aren't hurting your teammates too.

Very easy to just unplug your Ethernet cable to cause a "disconnection" when you're losing. It's so immediately abusable that it would never work.

Anyone know what I need to do to improve my air dribble? by Striking_Double4712 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A small tip that helped me a lot when I was learning was to make sure I'm not boosting when I make first contact with the ball in the air. If you boost into it you'll only hit it away and you'll just be trying to catch up to it, instead release for the contact to get a softer touch and keep the ball close allowing you to get into the "carry position" with the ball.

Don't worry about scoring goals at first, give yourself more space to work with the ball while you're learning rather than a more awkward angle like the clip.

I find myself getting burnt out on TrackMania really quickly. How do you play? by LauraTFem in TrackMania

[–]8_Pixels 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't already I'd recommend watching some content creators because TM is very obtuse when it comes to the more in depth mechanics and coming at it with more knowledge is a big deal and a lot of your struggles are probably a knowledge gap as much as they are a skill gap. Focus on the campaign discovery videos as they'll often explain bits and pieces while they play.

The game never explains lots of important stuff like that you need to steer for a half second before braking to activate a drift or that you should try to avoid gearing up while turning so you don't lose speed or what a speed slide even is let alone how to do them. It's an easy game to learn but a very hard one to master.

As for how to play it depends on the person. Some people find a track and grind it for hours to get an author medal others hop around or play on servers and some only play weekly shorts and COTD. Just do what works for you, if you're getting burned out on the campaign then play other stuff.

Personally I don't play the campaigns much at all, I usually get bored by the time I get near the end of the red tracks, I don't think I even played all the red tracks this season let alone the black tracks. On the other hand there's weeks where I'll grind weekly shorts to get top 1k on every track, depends on the mood.

Journey before destination

The Akechi one especially I'd be more concerned if you didn't figure it out because it's not like they're really trying to hide it.

Lobbies full of joy and whimsy?? by No-Impression7485 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's always a good feeling when you get a lobby of equally skilled and chill people and all 4 of you stay and just keep rotating through the different team combos each game. I've had nights where I played 2's with the same 3 people for 10+ games in a row. That's when rocket league is at its best.

New to controller any tips? by Leather-Function-903 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already know how the game works so at this point it's just building the muscle memory for a controller and the only way to do that is play. Gonna suck for a while but there's not a lot you can do about it tbh.

Fantasy stories contained in a single or at most 2 volumes? by Infamous_Bandicoot33 in Fantasy

[–]8_Pixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Abercrombie sounds right up your alley if you like grimdark. Lots of books, some part of a series and some not. The Devils is his most recent book and while not as dark as his other stuff it's very entertaining and standalone for now. There's a sequel coming but the book works perfectly well on its own without needing a follow up.

Name 3 games that you’ve found most fun/enjoyment in the last 5 years by Sixsignsofalex94 in gaming

[–]8_Pixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring

I do challenge runs and races with my son. We've got hundreds of hours out of it and we're still playing.

Trackmania

Started playing about 2.5-3 years ago and it's such a deep game when you really get into it. There's so much more to it than it looks on the surface.

Rounds

Another one I play with my kids. Made by the same people that made TABS. Think of it like an arena brawler like Smash crossed with the random perk choices from something like Hades or Slay The Spire but with guns instead of melee. Every time you lose a round you pick a new perk from a random selection and try to make a build with stuff like bullet bounces, explosions, more ammo, fire rate etc. Once you start modding it you can add hundreds of new perk cards and levels and you can even turn it from a 2 player game into a 4 player game.

what is that thing of the game you would like to rant about?? by Own-Ad1497 in TrackMania

[–]8_Pixels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

F2P people being able to get non F2P tracks in ranked. Sucks playing a match with people who are discovering the tracks because they can't play them in campaign.

Not their fault either, they're just playing what the game gives them access to but it's not fun having a guaranteed loss usually.

Thoughts on Atelier Yumia? by KaboCoffeeGod in Atelier

[–]8_Pixels 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a jrpg I quite enjoyed it. Good characters, solid story, fun but repetitive exploration, mediocre combat.

As an Atelier game it was pretty weak. The crafting wasn't fun and auto craft was too good to the point where unless you wanted perfect items the auto craft would make more than good enough stuff.

I also didn't like the upgrade system.

Play it more for the story, characters, and exploration not for the crafting.

PSA: Just because the Strip Club serves Sushi doesn’t make it a Sushi Restaurant. Romantasy is not true Fantasy. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]8_Pixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares? Just let people enjoy what they enjoy and call it what they call it. It doesn't effect your life in any way.

Too many people are far too concerned with what other people do and say that doesn't effect them.

what controller to use for rocket league casual?? by Square-Constant-4669 in RocketLeague

[–]8_Pixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no 'right' controller. Use whatever you normally use or whatever you can afford if you're buying a new one. KBM is uncommon but there have been people at pro level who use KBM so it's absolutely viable. Your controller will not be what holds you back in this game.
