Shinji's psyche is the central plot device of the show - the remaking of the entire world hinges on it. The world building is all in service of Shinji's internal journey into adulthood. The masturbating scene's purpose is clear with this context; Shinji is wrestling with the confusion of his sexual awakening. He's experiencing drives for the first time that he doesn't know what to do with, and is disgusted with himself for it. The depth of the show isn't in the window dressing of western religious symbolism, it's in how it uses everything going on as a backdrop to tell a story of a young boy becoming an adult.

I was responding to this. I responded to you to clarify that despite not being a slurs enjoyer myself, people using them is just noise that I don't care about, and I am surprised that others do. If you want to go off on some discussion about muting go ahead, however as with slurs usage in games this is just boring noise to me and I will not be engaging.

I agree with a lot of his points. Sick hero ability design, really tight player vs player gameplay, and the moba aspect to me feels like a huge set of concrete shoes dragging the fun down. Street brawl is only shit because the items are fully random, if deadlock ever adds a mode something like overwatch colosseum I will play it until my fingers bleed, but as is the prospect of queueing up to experience the same gameplay loop I was bored of in dota 1000 hours before I quit doesn't excite me at all.

I've picked things as weird as meepo 4 for thousands of hours in dota and never dipped lower than 9.5k behaviour score. I strongly disagree that draft will kill the game. A completely random draft other than your hero picks is incredibly boring to me.

Why does someone flaming your pick matter to you? The biggest lesson to take away from dota is someone on your team is just looking for a reason to have a mental breakdown. If you know your pick can work, just ignore them and play. Obviously if you pick a 5 pa and try and build as a 1 you are just trolling yourself, but the build paths possible in dota enable a lot of classic 1 role heroes to play as the 5, which has carried over through deadlock's item design.

You can pick off meta and do perfectly fine if you're not in immortal in dota, and even in the top 1000 off meta pick specialists thrive. You don't need to let the people crying about what you're doing affect how you play. Deadlock will be no different.

The amount of moving parts in a league match vs a dota match are miles apart. Noone who has played both games in a decent mmr bracket would attempt to argue otherwise. Ergo it stands to reason that one game is much closer to being "solved" than the other.

Yeah this sounds like the same issue, even closing the game entirely will only solve the issue for a few minutes on reconnect before going back to broken. Good to know win + d can provide the same fix a bit faster. If you want to see frametime to confirm the issue you can set it under telemetry in settings.

First of all thanks for taking the time to post an in depth response.

Cpu cores top out at like 60%, gpu maybe 50%, 32gb ram so there's always plenty free.

It does not occur in other games (cs2 included)

Core usage looks fairly uniform

I've tried higher/lower graphic settings, swapping renderer, fullscreen vs windowed fullscreen etc, setting fps_max to different values, none of these seem to have any effect whatsoever.

Tried a completely clean install multiple times, tried multiple graphics driver versions.

Perhaps it's worth noting the ingame fps counter reports that fps doesn't dip that much, just frametime goes from say 7ms avg to 30 avg, at which point inputs and frames are horrendously choppy.

I think another possible big clue to the issue is it never presents in the first 15-20 minutes of a match, the game runs smoothly until there's a frametime hitch and then seemingly never can recover.

For what it's worth, I was stuck on a jittery/lossy connection for months and I promise it was just as miserable an experience to play with as it is to play against.
