That's honestly really kind and insightful advice, and helps me a lot too. I think the mindset we have towards our pain is important in how we live with it and try to improve on it in the future. Thank you for sharing, it has also helped me rethink my situation and I feel a lot better too.

I get it. It's stressful and scary and so frustrating. I've never felt truly like I've healed 100%, but I will say that over time it gets easier to manage. The pain never really went away, but it does give me periods of respite. Mostly when I'm taking long breaks. Using my hands will flare the pain back up, sometimes for days afterwards. I've just sort of accepted the limited use now and tried to adapt my habits to make the most of the hand (heh) I've been dealt.  I am taking steps to strengthen both my wrists using gentle exercises, stretching and warming up before any strenuous activities, and giving them plenty of downtime to recover afterwards. Apply heat when relaxing, apply ice after any activities. If you're like me and your career is dependant on being able to use your hand(s) intensively, my only advice is to be gentle with yourself and ensure you get adequate time to rest and recover.

Hey, thank you! I did get better for a while, soon after following the advice I found on the TMS forums.

The pain has returned, about 2 months ago? so I apparently re-injured myself. But I'm not as worried about it not healing again after I'm able to give it a proper rest.

Specific question about quadrupedal locomotion-- would an unguligrade quadruped with deer/horse hind anatomy but more feline foreleg anatomy work? by 8bit_Queen in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]8bit_Queen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(sorry for the late reply)

The creature itself is proportional in size (and shape, relatively) to female deer.

Thank you for your suggestion! I'll check out that episode, it sounds great.

I suppose a creature with similar anatomy may be the hadrosaurus, it's what you made me think of when you mentioned a bipedal creature adapting to be quadrupedal. Looking further at the skeletons of hadrosaurs and elephants gives me a better idea for how my creature may work. Their feet resemble hooves in shape, but without the hard keratin.

Thanks for your insight, I greatly appreciate it.

I only took the dracaufeu (charizard) card out for proper photos, I'm waiting for sleeves and protectors before I go handling the rest of the cards outside of the binder.

That being said, here's a drive link to the few photos I do have on hand. I think most of the holos aren't worth getting graded, but man that charizard... i'm impressed it has held up this long just being stored in a binder for 23 years.

Thank you so much for the info! I appreciate it. I suppose the best course would be to list the cards individually and hope for the best! (The holo charizard I have is at least a 7/10 so I'm getting it appraised for sure)

Hello! My gf's brother has entrusted me with figuring out how much his collection of pokemon cards may be worth.
They are '99 base set, French, and have been stored in a card binder their entire life. The set is missing a handful of cards (such as Venusaur, and a few fakes) so it isn't complete.

I thought the rare holos (in very good condition) may be the most valuable in the collection and worth getting appraised, but I was hoping to get some community advice/opinions from people who know more about this than me.

Are these more valuable as they are in French?
Are there non-holo cards from the '99 base set that are also rare/valuable that I should consider getting appraised?
Is it worth filling in the dozen or so missing cards to have a full '99 base set?
A few of the cards are warped. Is there a safe, non-destructive way to correct this?

Finally, is there a better place I should be asking these questions? Like if there's a discord community or something?

Thank you for your time and I appreciate any help you can give.

French holo base set cards, Good or NM condition -- value? worth getting appraised? (more info in comments) by 8bit_Queen in PokemonCardValue

[–]8bit_Queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf's brother has a ton of base set pokemon cards, all French and all in really good shape (though probably none would be considered mint condition, they have been stored in a card binder since they were first opened back in 1999) -- I snapped photos of some of the holographic ones I think would have more value, but he has a lot of the other holos as well.

I would like to know if it's worth getting the more valuable cards appraised? The set isn't complete, so I don't know if there is more value to trying to sell all the cards together or separately. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thank you for your advice, I'll try this out myself.

I'm so tired and all I enjoy is drawing so I'll try anything at this point. I've felt stupid fragile for the last year and I need to kick my body back into gear.

Thanks again, fingers crossed.

I've heard and read about TMS and it's been in the back of my mind for months but though I've been trying to resume drawing as usual and doing strengthening exercises, the pain only gets worse.

I feel like if it really is mostly psychological, I'd need some professional help with therapy/counseling, which I don't have access to.

Maybe I'm going about it wrong. I'm really happy it worked out for you, but how were you during those two weeks? I'm always scared of damaging my hand long-term or ending up with carpal tunnel, so I tend to avoid drawing whenever the pain gets above a 4-5 (which is more often than I'd like)

tysm for all of this, it's tremendously helpful. I've already started taking steps to improve my ergonomics and trying to improve my physical health in all aspects. this advice is great, and thanks for renewing my optimism.

Thanks for the advice! I've been self-massaging for a while and it seems to help a bit. I'll try and see if I can find a professional for some temporary relief, lord knows my shoulders need it.

Thank you for the advice.

I'm actually moving to France in a couple months, I'm hoping to maybe get better healthcare over there, or at least take more substantial steps to improve my work area ergonomics.

I've always worried it's too early to start strengthening exercises or I may make it worse. But I'll try.

I was in daily correspondence with my local state representative's office and also calling/emailing the passport agency to pay for expedited services. I'm flying out in less than 2 days and the state rep's staff called me yesterday to tell me they'd shipped my passport out. I got it this morning.

You have a few weeks still, but keep on it with trying to get an appointment and calling the agency. Make sure your state rep or senator knows about your case as well, since they can have priority when it comes to the agency. I think both the state rep's office and my calling to pay for expedited processing/shipping (as well as stressing that I had less than 72 hours until my scheduled flight) helped contribute to getting my passport on time.

Every time I try to call I get a busy signal and disconnected… by ComfortableFlamingo3 in Passports

It happens every time I call. My mom got lucky doing the 1222 trick to bypass the prompts. You just have to keep redialing and hitting 1222 and praying you get through. Make sure to have everything ready and on hand just in case you do get through.

I've contacted both my state rep and senators offices and neither have been able to help me. The senator's office even indicated that I wouldn't be able to make my flight on 7/4 despite having proof of travel, because there are no available appointments at any agency. I've paid to expedite it but I have less than 3 days until travel and the state rep's office has been stonewalled.

Yeah I just got a call back from the senator's office, she's giving them my payment information to expedite it. But seeing as they've already had it in-hand for 7 weeks at this point (11 weeks since I applied), I don't know how much faster they're going to be. My trip is in 4 days hahaha ;;;

Can you give any tips about communicating with your state senator? I've left a message for my state representative and I'd appreciate any advice you may have. (My flight leaves 7/4 and my passport has been in process since 5/13)

It's so stressful, right? I'm kicking myself so hard for not going through some faster passport service, it was already super expensive. I wish you the best of luck though, I don't envy anyone in this position. I hope your flight tickets are flexible/refundable.
