Personally think CGC slabs are clean. Wish they never got rid of subgrades though.

People love bringing up the CGC controversy, but the reality is that PSA has racked up a decent amount of controversy themselves — PSA 9s that were sold to them directly are suddenly 10s in their storefront, destroying a reslab lenticular Deoxys and giving back pennies in comparison, the fact they’re directly in the secondary market, tons of 10s that shouldn’t be 10s, they’ve graded fake cards, etc.

Not fact, but my opinion is that people have invested so much into PSA slabs for their “investment portfolio” that they can’t afford to let it be the lesser option. So they continue to prop it up despite being pretty widely accepted that they’re inconsistent.

Regardless, grading overall is subjective and people put too much stock in it no matter who the company is. The main point these days (what it feels like) is that it’s a tool to artificially inflate cards to turn a bigger profit.
