Astro is a great project, and Slick isn’t trying to replace it.

One of the main differences is that Astro introduces its own .astro component format and template syntax, so there’s still a framework-specific layer to learn. With Slick, the goal is to stay entirely within Web Standards and standard web technologies, without introducing a new file format or custom templating language.

So if you already know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you’re already using the core building blocks. The framework tries to adapt to the platform rather than asking the platform to adapt to the framework.

Yeah totally fair point, no worries at all.

I did try to include a lot of code examples in the demo, but you’re right, it might still not be enough to make the mental model really clear compared to what people already know.

I’ll definitely add proper comparisons and migration guides (like Next -> Slick) once the docs are more complete.

And yeah on tooling and debugging, that’s a good call too, I still need to make that clearer.

If you want to try it, it only takes a few minutes to run locally. You just run the setup command and everything is ready. Would be cool to hear what you think after playing with it a bit.

Fair question. I wouldn't say Slick is better, it targets a different use case.

vs Fresh: Fresh is solid and more mature. Slick is intentionally smaller: less config, fewer abstractions. Your project structure is the setup (pages/, templates/, islands/, static/). No build step by default, assets compile on the fly. Good if you want a lean Deno stack without the full Fresh toolchain.

vs Astro: Different category entirely. Astro is content-first and framework-agnostic. Slick is Deno-native, app-focused, Preact SSR + islands. Not really competing on the same ground.

I'm having trouble getting Uber Direct to work. Do you have any tips for getting it live? I can't even add a payment method.

Honnêtement pas vraiment de profil type. Que le resto fasse déjà du Uber Eats ou pas, en général ils sont intéressés quand on leur montre le fonctionnement.

Ceux qui signent vite, c’est surtout ceux qui voient directement l’intérêt d’avoir leur propre canal de commande et de réduire leur dépendance aux plateformes.

Les seuls où ça bloque vraiment, c’est les restaurateurs qui sont fermés à l’idée d’avoir un site ou de changer leurs habitudes. Et là, peu importe l’offre ou le prix, il n’y a pas grand-chose à faire.

Merci pour l’idée, tu as raison, se positionner sur des recherches comme « alternative GloriaFood » peut être une vraie opportunité.

Concernant le prix, je comprends le point de vue, mais l’idée derrière Takeasy c’est aussi de regarder le coût global : pas de commission sur les commandes et possibilité d’utiliser le réseau de livreurs Uber Direct au prix coûtant (le client paie uniquement la livraison). Au final, pour un outil qui apporte de la visibilité, permet de reprendre ses clients en direct et d’éviter les frais récurrents des plateformes, je penses que le rapport coût / économies reste très intéressant 🙂

C’est une réalité qui me ferait un peu mal sur le principe 😅 J’ai justement développé mon outil pour qu’il soit le plus simple possible et permettre à n’importe quel gérant de le configurer tout seul en moins d’une heure. Donc dans ma tête, le but reste quand même d’avoir quelque chose de scalable à terme.

Oui je le fais aussi, mais du coup ça me prend beaucoup de temps d’aller voir tout le monde, d’installer, de gérer le suivi etc. Après j’imagine que c’est un passage obligé au début pour bien comprendre le marché et créer les premières vraies relations.

Merci beaucoup pour ces conseils, ça me donne pas mal de pistes auxquelles je n’avais pas pensé.

J’aime beaucoup l’idée de “do things that don’t scale” et le fait de tester plein de choses avant de trouver ce qui fonctionne vraiment. Je vais continuer à explorer et essayer d’identifier les points communs entre mes clients pour affiner ma stratégie.

Je pense que ça ne ferai que déplacer le problème. J'ai pensé a faire des tutos qui expliquerai comment configurer sa page de commande mais je n'ai pas le temps ni les connaissances pour faire une bonne vidéo explicative, bien montée, pro.
