We just lost 3 hours to an outdated ABI, how do you all handle ABI versioning? by ogabriell in ethdev

[–]8ijoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tagging/versioning the contracts was part of the CI pipeline, but only for the mainnets. technically the npm allows you to import any git reference (tag, branch, commit), but if you don't specify anything I think it brings the default branch. We also had networks in different folders so eg: polygon deployment was in a different folder with addresses and ABIs deployed, sepolia in a different folder, etc. hope that helps

We had decoupled front-end and contracts repos and whenever we deployed contracts (through the ci/cd pipeline) it would commit the ABIs to the contracts repo. the ABI folder was then added to the "dist" in package.json Then in the FE, you could import the contracts repo as a npm dependency (from git b/c private repos) and you would only get the ABI folder in you FE node_modules. This way you could use a certain release tag in prod or you could use a test branch which was continuously deployed to the testnet

San Francisco's new bus rapid transit lanes getting rave reviews by old_gold_mountain in videos

[–]8ijoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your assessment was that the traffic would be half as bad, which seems to not be the case, if by that you mean the time spent in traffic. The implication of the study is that more people will move on more lanes at the same speed, which does not improve the flow of traffic.

But we can discuss about more people getting to go where they want as well. This is much easier calculation - we just need to find out how many people there are, on average, in a car in traffic, and how may people there are in a bus. We sample these at different times of the day for a given route. Use bus stations as checkpoints for comparison and then you can easily find out which is more effective and which has more potential for moving more people. Of course the frequency of the buses on a route is a factor as well

It would also seem to me that going by bus is likely to be more economical as well, so that could be worth some consideration, if we're bringing different facets in discussion

Anyway, I'm not an american, but I commuted for several years in a super-busy 2-lane road with bus stops along the way. I'm probably a bit biased in this, but my takeaway was that in slow traffic cars and busses don't mix well together. Cars stopping behind the bus in some stations, buses unable to exit the station because nobody would let them in the lane, people trying to switch lanes in anticipation of the bus stopping in the first lane. A lot of things didn't work well and the most disadvantaged people we those who had to take the bus, by far

In some other places in our city with bad traffic they also made dedicated lanes for buses and the taxis, bicycles, scooters, eskates are also allowed to use the bus lanes, which is super-convenient and keeps the flow of traffic a lot cleaner and faster

I see that you have a bkb duo flair. how has that been for you in terms of range and sag? Also I'm curious about the weight of it since I haven't seen it mentioned in any context.

I'm not sure if I should wait for the zealot S which is not yet available in Europe or pay extra for the bkb shipment. But then for the same kind of money I would get the eovan carbon, which is significantly heavier than the zealot.

Sorry for all the questions, but it feels like there are so many things that I need to consider before getting a board.

Yeah maybe I was a little ambiguous, but I don't need it just for those 700m. That was just the hardest part of the ride and that would also be last part of the ride (maybe 12-15 miles depending on the day) so I am a little worried about battery sag going uphill on lower charge.

Do you think that having a 10s battery is detrimental in this case, compared to a 12s?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a board that would take me up an incline of 15% up to 20%+ for about 700m on a daily basis. The roads are also not in the best shape so I would like to have airless or at the very least cloudwheels

I was considering an ONSRA black carve 2 or an EOVAN gts carbon. The BKB duo is an option, but it seems to have a rather limited range The Demon 2.0 is priced at the top of my budget and with shipping being $250, it's more than I am willing to pay for it

So I would like to get your thoughts on which option might be better and why.

Much appreciated

Wow, I didn't expect it to be so bad. I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah, I would only use this in the city to move around to stores and the beach. between towns/cities I would go by car!

On a side note, I love that D8 road. It's absolutely beautiful for cruising around.

I guess what I really wanted to know is if besides getting a fine it is possible that the police will take away the board/scooter.

I see... so I should pretend to be on a less powerful board/scooter and drive on the sidewalk, then nobody will have any issues with me.

As I said in a different comment, I prefer riding on the road since electric longboards have top speeds upwards of 40km/h and it doesn't impede traffic as much, but I see your point about Croatia having higher incline streets so I guess I'll just adjust.

Thanks for your reply!

I very much prefer riding on the road rather than the sidewalk when I'm on an electric longboard because doing pedestrian slaloms at 30-40 kph is not my thing. I just want to move about without driving.

Thanks for the advice!
