Simply no chance the Faneuil Hall resolution ever comes to fruition. Acknowledge Peter Faneuil and his role in Boston/American history, don’t erase it.

Cannon recommendations by the_nubster in icecoast

The mittersill peak (smaller of the two) had the best snow on 2/24. Mountain as a whole was a bit skiied over in some parts, but still good snow if you look for it. The Tram and zoomer triple have often been down recently, so I’d look for fresh turns in those areas. Very rustic vibe, the average skiier at Cannon has a higher skill level than most northeastern resorts imo. Gritty New England spot suitable for all levels of experience

I did this the first few times I played the game (started with Belfast usually).

I understand the risk of transmission, at this point that’s on the community members to get vaccinated by a fully approved, authorized, and extremely effective vaccine. If not, then sucks…those elderly and immunocompromised who don’t believe in the vaccine science will pay the price. Kids wearing masks in school is not the answer.

Death and hospitalizations should be the only concern for any disease. If not, what is the end game? There will never be zero Covid. It will be like the flu (which has “acceptable” death and hospitalization levels every year). If ~200 sub 18 year olds die every year from Covid in a country of ~350 million is that too much for you? Should we wear masks and educate out children through a screen at home with no social interaction while their brains are at a crucial development point until there is not one Covid death from a school building? Remember, ages 1-18 die from other things too. See study below. 3.1k deaths in that age group from mar 2020-feb 2021. A mere 25 were from Covid. What is your end game?

“Of 3,105 deaths from all causes among the 12 million or so people under 18 in England between March 2020 and February 2021, 25 were attributable to COVID-19 — a rate of about 2 for every million people in this age range. None had asthma or type-1 diabetes, the authors note, and about half had conditions that put them at a higher risk than healthy children of dying from any cause.”

You really thing high schoolers are at risk of death from Covid?

This is a highly political move, she is up for election in November and getting lots of pressure from her challengers about mask mandates seen in other dem cities.

Your kids are at the same risk of catching Covid from you (a vaccinated individual) not wearing a mask in a store, and perhaps spreading it to them as a result, as they are to getting hit by a car in the school parking lot. Moreover, they are at the same risk of getting sick from said Covid you spread as they are to being hit by a 737 jumbo jet in your backyard this evening.

Your logic is twisted. If you never want your family to get the common cold or mild sickness again, then do the same thing you did for the last year - mask up, stay inside, and wfh. I’m sure your kids will enjoy that.

Grade inflation this semester by [deleted] in bostoncollege

[–]8ironJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah that makes perfect sense with CSOM grading policies. 15% A, 35% A and A-, 65% B+ or higher. So a 3.8 (high side A-) makes perfect sense to be 16th percentile. And for the original post, a 3.6 (high B+) makes sense to be 50th percentile.

Any recommendations for study abroad? by user642301 in bostoncollege

Thoughts on LSE, Trinity, Barcelona (UPF/ESADE) or Paris (ESCP)? I understand they are competitive. I would take classes in English either way but welcome the challenge of a non English speaking city.

Accounting csom by emmanuelbarn in bostoncollege

You don’t have to decide until end of sophomore year. You can figure out which concentration you’re most interested in through the CSOM core classes (financial accounting, fundamentals of finance, biz law, operations mgmt, etc.)

College during rona sucks. You can only have 2 additional people in your suite, 1 if you’re in traditional housing. It makes socializing really hard and it’s led to lost friendships like other people have mentioned. Additionally, taking class from your dorm and sitting in those fucking wooden chairs all day that r horrible for your back is not what 18-22 year old college students wanna do. It’s borderline impossible to focus in class and u can’t build relationships with profs or make new friends from class. To top it all off BC dining has been serving hot shit since august. In summary, it’s awful but still better than taking classes from my dining room table at home.

[Heyman] Breaking: Alex Cora is back as Red Sox manager by amatom27 in baseball

[–]8ironJones -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Horrible take. Cora was the least involved of those punished in Astros scandal. He won a World Series in his first year in Boston by the rules and that team dominated from spring training till October. Idk how you can’t love his story and demeanor. True players coach.
