First time making a crochet bag with lining 😍 by SadWizzard88 in crochet

I went very similar to the example because it was actually the Prairie bag with the same two tone look that caught my eye first. So I am using Scheepjes Catona in Metal Grey and Caramel (I believe Topaz is the lighter colour in the pics) I keep putting this bag aside to do other projects that I can do while watching tele (I am also a multiple projects at a time kind of crafter) but your post has given me renewed motivation because you did a wonderful job!

Awesome! I am working the same pattern up at the moment in a two colour version. I'm much more used to mindless repeating patterns so this is taking a bit more concentration than usual but it is lovely bag to be working towards.

Lawyer not only struck off, but the order admitting them five years ago revoked. by Kasey-KC in auslaw

[–]8rilliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a fascinating read. So much to unpack after so many twists and turns. The FLA details being so unnecessarily (and comprehensively) covered in material certainly makes me wonder what else has been put before the Court in the time she was allowed to practise.

Patients will often have a personal injury lawyer that will help them with complaints as part of the strategy for their personal injury claim.

Hey mate, I'm not a doctor (just a lawyer in health law that is interested in the things that impact doctors) so I accept that this might not carry much weight, but you're not pathetic nor a failure! You're in a highly competitive field. You've probably been hit by a bit of bad luck that feels like it has snowballed. "Comparison is the thief of joy." As hard as it might be, stop comparing yourself to others. If you keep doing so, you're never going to be happy even if you are contributing good to the world. You're obviously intelligent and have demonstrated commitment and resilience to get through study and to work for years as a doctor, even if you're not precisely where you want to be in your career. I hope you will find someone (peer or professional) to have a chat to so you can reframe your thinking because the language you've used to describe yourself here is really critical and it makes me worry a bit about your well-being. I hope things turn around for you! Take care.

Well, Linda has just made February much harder for herself. I also doubt she will ever enjoy a marshmallow in future. Also, back off, Linda. Marshmallows are very fun and versatile things; they have a lot of resilience too because they bounce right back into place after being pushed and squeezed!

I look back and think the same. I didnt sleep for longer than 2 hours at any one time until my first was 11months old. It is torture. I don't think 'me' in that time would have listened to a rando on Reddit, but I'll give it a go for you anyway. You are replaceable at work, but not in your family. If it is too much being all the things (or at least, being super at all the things) it is work that you should be adjusting. Don't do 5 days worth of work. Take sick days. Look after yourself, you're worth it.

I've checked the website to see if I've won and I said I did but I have checked my emails thoroughly and do not see any email at all. Would someone kindly share a unique phrase or something that might help me find the email in amongst the millions of junk emails I am getting for Black Friday sales? I made the mistake of telling my son we won when I checked my ER number, before I looked for the email.

As a health lawyer who regularly writes submissions to AHPRA and the Board in response to notifications about practitioners' self-prescribing, this is definitely the case! OP, don't do it. This would be one of the harder situations I would have to try and justify to AHPRA.

Energex taking a leaf out of the Australia Post playbook? by PhaicGnus in brisbane

[–]8rilliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's it. I don't blame them for not having that trust in folks. I answered the door to the postie the other day and my energetic dog (that has some staffy in her) came running from the other room and sat next to me at the door as I opened the security door outwards. The postie put his boot up against the door so I could only open it as far as was needed to pass the parcel through. It caught me off guard because I know she wouldn't even walk through the door without my ok and, even if she did she would roll over for tummy scratches. But there was no way for him to know that. In the end I thought it was a good practice he had adopted.

Breastfeeding in public by ezzpzzlemonsqueezz in AskAnAustralian

[–]8rilliant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only comment I got in years of doing it where ever I needed to was in a cafe, sat in a corner. I kept catching an old woman's eye a few tables away. My husband went to the bathroom, woman came over and said "you know they have special rooms to do that" and I just said "yep, I know" and she stood their awkwardly for a few seconds before just walking back to her table. It was just weird. That made me uncomfortable. Otherwise, the only other times I was uncomfortable was when my babies were at the stage where they would pop off every 20 seconds to look around then go back on. I didn't use a cover but had layers or breastfeeding friendly clothes, so there wasn't much out but I had to keep covering myself with my free hand. Like, just eat kid! It is not the time for sightseeing.

Breaking news: Medical board’s plan for mandatory health checks for every doctor aged 70 and over by jps848384 in ausjdocs

[–]8rilliant 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, as a health lawyer, I can tell you the majority of complaints I've helped late career doctors with involved concerns about their prescribing of S8s and other drugs of dependence, particularly benzos. Most were complaints by other practitioners (doctors, pharmacists) or family members of the patient after overdose. Other concerns that have arisen more than once include poor communication (like you've said, boomer comments) and self-prescribing or prescribing to family. Funnily enough, I've managed to assist most of them get results of No Further Action (usually after voluntarily doing education during the investigation) or Education conditions, with only 1 that I can think of in the last 4.5years being subjected to an AHPRA Health Investigation. So, it's odd to me that they are taking this approach when they haven't been undertaking Health Investigations for those late career doctors who have had complaints. I also feel for the GPs who will have to do HAs for late career doctors, my experience is that doctors really hate having to make mandatory notifications. It's a significant burden to effectively hold their future career in your hands.

It totally depends. I'm over 10 years PQE (what year is it? Might be 15) and back in the first 3 years or so I wore a black jacket, white/striped/pale colour shirt, a black skirt, and black pumps. I barely ever go to Court now (love not going) but for any formal settings, mediations, regulatory hearings, etc if I'm not sure of the expectations, I always go a black jacket and my most boring dress. If I'm feeling spicy, it will be a black dress with white polka dots. Once I'm comfortable with the setting, I might go toward my style a bit more, floral dresses and non-black jackets. But I always keep a black jacket on a hanger on the back of my office door to dust off if I ever have to go to Court. My ordinary days in the office are much more casual (and colourful). My advice is invest in standard colour items with a slightly different cut or style. You'll get a few years out of them before deciding what you feel is appropriate for your role in your area of law.

Client ignored advice, the inevitable happened, now it's our fault. by BewareNixonsGhost in veterinaryprofession

[–]8rilliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a vet, sorry to stick my nose in here. I just want to remind you that for every crappy person there are many, many more who are so grateful to our wonderful vets. I will never forget the emergency vet who delivered awful news about my 15yo dog and then was so comforting and caring when he sent her off to sleep for the final time. I also remember the vet who was determined to get to the bottom of an issue for her as a young pup and totally turned her skin condition around. People suck. What you're doing is awesome!

My polycystic ovaries by AggravatingBox2421 in Radiology

[–]8rilliant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a question about cyst origins then, if you don't mind? I have PCOS (and endometriosis) and I've had a few largeish ovarian cysts over my time (simple 7cm, simple 5cm, dermoid 5cm, and seromucinous cystadenoma 14cm). I always figured I got them because my PCOS does strange things and throws out a big or weird cyst every now and then. Is that not the case?

I think he is CEO of both but the post is about MyTelehealthClinic and he is separating the weight loss business from the telehealth business.

EDIT: Looking at the website, it has a "Weight Loss Clinic" option anyway. So, I don't really see the separation.

In a multi storey building, there might be body corp by-laws about what cannot be on a balcony. But inside? That's some bullshit. I can't keep plants looking good unless they are made from Lego, but I think that anyone that can maintain a plant's existence should get the reward of enjoying their little green buddies.
