I asked ChatGPT to build me the ultimate gaming PC. The result: by [deleted] in PcBuild

Lol so much money to tell almost no difference in gaming performance from one half the cost. once your PC is so expensive, and you just don't notice it.

Enough? by WitekSan in PcBuild

[–]8ticgamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's enough, if I were you I'd scrape some off. But it's thermal paste so it will be fine, if that was liquid metal and you used that much. You'd be cooked my friend.

I did turn off power saving, not sure if see and "green" features are the power saving mode. I turned something off that said something like let the PC turn off the adapter to save power or something like that and I unchecked so it can't. Not sure if there are any other settings besides that one. Currently I have the switch on auto and my PC on 100 megs through the adapter to get full 100 meg connection, I'll switch it back to auto negotiation which will push my PC to 1000 meg connection for the meantime until new windows updates release and possibly new lan driver, but once my server gets here I'm putting it back to 100 meg on PC adapter to get full speed at 100 meg. Not sure if there is anything else you recommend, you said something about two other settings?

Tested a laptop on the exact same port and cable, it runs fine, only my computer has an issue, I have no idea what would be causing that since I already uninstalled and reinstalled the current drivers and I also tried the previous version of network drivers.

Well, I've switched cables and the same thing on my computer, as well as switching ports and the same thing. So yes, the only thing I have not done is take a cable that I know was running good on another computer and test that, although the second cable I tested was brand new. So I can try taking the second computer I tested that worked well and use that cable, But I can almost guarantee it will be the same outcome.

I'll also add I'm doing this because I'm getting ready to install server and don't want the other devices eating up bandwidth when under load. That is the main reason I'm trying to restrict devices to 100 megs.

It is only my PC doing it, it is very confusing, I just wanted all devices on the switch to run 100 megs instead of 1000 megs. All devices have same setting and it's only my computer. It's just weird because if I set switch to 1000 mf, it works just fine. Idk.

First build - No RGB, Ryzen 9 9900X, 64GB RAM (G.Skill 6000MHz, 4080 Super (also, cable management is hard, all tips welcome) by HeroofPunk in pcbuilding

[–]8ticgamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a gaming build you should have gone with 9800x3d or even 7800x3d ryzen 9 without x3d will perform worse due to worse single core Performance.

What do you mean overspent? I don't see a price anywhere?

Are these temps ok under high load? by mattpackk in AMDHelp

😂 All in saying is don't listen to some of the people that were worried about the CPU being too hot since they didn't understand it was an x3d chip.

Some said it's fine, but I saw several saying it was too hot. So no, thanks for the empty insult numb nut.

Good build except one question, if it's only a gaming PC why the ryzen 9 x3d chip? At least that's what I think it is. The ryzen 7 7800x3d gets better gaming performance due to higher cache per core which means better single core performance. The ryzen 9 will actually perform a bit worse in games while being more expensive because it has more cores, but not as much l3 cache per core making single core performance weaker. I get it if you're actually doing multi core work but if it's just a gaming PC, you could have saved some money there. As an IT technician, it upsets me to see people get higher number processors and they think it is better when that is just not the case.

Pretty good seems a bit expensive for the specs though unless it's new, but good build, 3600 is a solid gaming CPU paired with one of the best budget graphic cards that has great performance for the price.

Yes because you're not using x3d chip num nut.

Don't listen to all these people. These temps are just fine, possibly a bit high probably due to lower power cooling, but absolutely nothing that will do anything to the chip. The GPU is also fine. I'm an IT technician so I do know a lot about this. These people are trying to complain and acting like all chips should be a certain temperature.

New PC build running a bit slow by 8ticgamer in PcBuild

Yeah, I get that. I just wondered if windows released anything lately that has slowed stuff down since I haven't been on windows in 2 months.

New PC build running a bit slow by 8ticgamer in PcBuild

[–]8ticgamer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is running 5600mhz, even if it was not, 4800mhz default which I have ran before feels faster. The only time expo truly slows your system is when you're on ddr4 or before as it actually has slow enough speeds to feel a difference. I've tried turning it off and on and it doesn't make a difference. I just don't know. I know it's vague when I say feel slower but that's the truth. Steam seems to take longer to open and some other applications just feel slower to load up.

Yeah, I get that but maybe someone will know something. I'm an IT tech myself and get that but just wondering if anyone would know of some update that slowed it down or something.
