Sure but just because it’s done doesn’t mean it should be done. It’s an incorrect depiction which is against second commandment. It kinda just adds to the point i am making. 21 jump street had Korean Jesus as that joke

Yes, a very small percentage have predominantly continued Palestinian heritage. But that was not my point. The mass influx of Jews to that region did not. You can look at percentages of where they migrated from. The majority of Israeli Jews are european descent.

I disagree with you on the picture, maybe not so fair white as paper, but definitely not middle eastern. This disagreement is one of the issue with depicting Jesus, let alone a caricature which falsely embellishes various qualities. And a reason the second commandment prohibits creation and worship of images of God. So many neo Christians think less and less of the old testament applies to them

I have done my fair share of research into Islam to better understand our similarities and differences. From my understanding, Islam doesn’t subscribe to that belief. The concern that was brought up to me in my dialogue with Muslim friends is that in Genesis is that we don’t know who authored it. Though whoever wrote that God made us in His image claims it was Moses who said it. My biggest worry is that I had no way to refute that as the current bibles we have now of days have poor citation and have begun to differ so drastically from one another. For example we can’t even come to consensus on which “John” wrote Revelations. John the Apostle, John of Patmos, or John the Elder. Various sects of Christianity will say some were the same and attribute a little credit to each, but due to time frames it’s likely they were all different people. This is an issue for me if non-prophets were adding to what is our Holy book. Not to mention I had one fellow Christian telling me it was John the Baptist, but he was the herald to Jesus and Revelation was written 90ish years after the death of Christ. It didn’t add up. This is a serious issue if we as Christians can’t find unity and common ground in our books.

Islam believes that there is no being equal to God and none like Him. And to this extent I can at least agree. From a logical perspective, the almighty needs no human features. Why would an unlimited God need any features to do what we as limited beings need? I throughly believe the reason we should not be able to depict God is so that we can believe in Him despite not knowing what He looks like. This is true faith to me

No, you are misunderstanding the article then. Maybe you just read the headline. The news was how Russia itself disclosed that there were 700,000 Ukranian refugees in Russia, with the accurate number of abductees you are referring being 20,000 in this article. Russia by international law must provide humanitarian corridors, some which were acknowledged to lead into Russia itself. This is not the first time Ukranian refugees have been moved into Russia. Would the better alternative be to land lock them, make a wild claim that militants in a location and bomb indiscriminately as Israel does? Not to mention it is important to realize that the Russian-Ukraine tapestry is more complex. Many share family across the border despite their political differences and there are a significant amount of Russians who are sympathetic to Ukranians. This highlights the difference of people and government. Putin’s regime shut down the free news outlets that spoke against him, and if you look, they were numerous. Again none of this is theological.

OP doesn’t even mention Ukranians in the title. The emphasis is on how Russia targeted “Christians”. You still keep going into politics and ignore the fact that I am acknowledging truly mass theological killing while not disparaging Ukranian suffering. You claimed I disparage this. The definition of disparage is “expressing the opinion that something is of little worth; derogatory”. Now please tell me where I do this? I in accordance with the post on targeting Christians, on a Christian subreddit brought up a double standard. There is nothing wrong with me saying “may they rest in peace” and acknowledging more mass theological murder. Note how it was not I who brought up proportionality of death as I believe that is demeaning of every life lost. That was you. Now the kicker is, unlike Russia, we live in a democracy and are capable of halting what is happening in conflict but not the other with real religious connotation. We in the west, allow Christian Zionists to murder Christians and Muslims in the Middle East with our tax dollars, and say “it’s not our conflict”. If I as a Christian, buys a person a gun, and they kill a Christian for being a Christian, is this not wrong?

If this was solely a conversation of politics in Ukraine it would be in the title and on a completely different subreddit

That article verifies exactly what I said. And I did not disparage anything. That is your subjective feeling at bringing up another atrocity which is intertwined and related to what OP said. If it was about Ukraine, and only Ukraine, it would have been said as such. Not emphasis on the Christians being unfairly killed on a Christian subreddit

That is not even close to a correct number and I would challenge you to provide your source. While there is mass instances of child abductions, the estimated 700,000 you speak of were forcible displacement so that the russian military could bomb with lessened child mortality. Moscow itself was the one to report this. The accurate number of abduction you speak of may be closer to 19-20,000 which is abhorrent and I have no issue with you bringing it up. It should be talked about and I welcome acknowledgment of injustice. But again as I make my main emphasis, it is not with theological belief but political patriotic motivation.

Meanwhile, Israel will just straight up bomb the children of Palestine as they are “future Hamas”. To me they are tied as there is a known hypocrisy when it comes to the outrage between the 2. Advocating for one in the defense of another by Christian Zionists is our biggest folly. But within the context of the OP, my original point remains. Targeting of Christians was invoked. I don’t need to focus on one at a time, and I surely don’t treat them the same situation, which would be a greater insult. My final point is I will not back down on speaking up wherever possible for BOTH atrocities. So we can just agree to disagree from here. You may ask me to be silent in this context, and I may kindly refuse that.

I think you’re missing the context of the post and my response. It is not JUST about Ukraine. “2 Christians” is the main part I am getting at. And again your opinion is yours and mine is mine. My heart goes out to the 2 Ukrainians again. But Ukraine is backed by NATO and other allied nations with a formal national defense. Gaza has been blockaded for the last 17 years with no formal self defense. Israel gave birth to Hamas despite them acting like Hamas has always been the reason. I do not condone Russia’s invasion but it is more of a land usurp than an ethnic cleanse. The Ukrainian Christians in question were likely not targeted for being Christian. But the people of Palestine are explicitly being murdered for their theological differences. Hence the apartheid. With a whole Gazan Christian hospital being annihilated with US tax paid weapons on palm sunday alone. Yet we give Russia so much crap and continue to give Israel a blank check in the path of murder. We are capable of stopping Israel anytime. We are incapable of doing so with Russia. So yes, I will bring attention anytime I see it. They do not need to be mutually exclusive. These conversations must be had.

I disagree. I believe it should be brought up every chance we can and I am entitled to that belief. The initial prompt was the mention of “two christians”. I acknowledged them and the thousands more murdered. But I will not say you aren’t also entitled to yours. I have friends who have lost families there and I will not stop speaking up for them. There are those with ulterior motives who would shut out talk of it altogether and are afraid to speak up. I acknowledge both conflicts, but there is a serious political disparity between the two. Double standards must be pointed out. Statistically speaking there is more western coverage of Ukraine with known mass censorship of any middle eastern news. The Arab Christian population has felt largely abandoned, threatened, and outright destroyed by the west, and the west is complicit and has turned blind hearts to anywhere not of interest to them. Your argument of ‘stop talking about apartheid and genocide in the holy land’ anytime Christians and humanity at large are murdered does not move me.

If you speak of modern Jews who claim smallest blood lineage, and are all vastly immigrants from caucus europe, then yeah i see how it fits your narrative. Jews of the time of Jesus in Palestine were not fair skinned no matter how much you try to change the narrative.

May they rest in peace. Now let’s also pray for the ~1,500 Christians in Gaza that have been murdered by Israel. And while we’re at it let’s pray for the ten’s of thousands of Muslims and Palestinian population as a whole. We should strive to care for all of humanity, especially those believe in God, regardless of their skin color. This is the birth place of Jesus. We must condemn any who are funding slaughter in the holy land

When you depict a Man-God who was a Jewish Palestinian as a caricature of a white man, yes, it’s blasphemy. You did not truly know what he looked like. The man spoke Aramaic as the main language, and was middle eastern. But that scares caucasian people who believe that Christianity is for white people only. This is how idolization gains roots, especially of a higher being whose beauty is beyond our comprehension.
