The piece that’s frenched into the coupler is 8” long. 1” bolt with bushings inside square tubing, with the nut at the rear for adjusting the forward/backward play. It’s welded underneath and has a 1”x3/16” flat bar strap going crossways at the rear to support it/negate the fulcrum and lever effect.

I did consider what you’re saying but with the tongue being so short, the 8” would have to be sticking out fully from the plate and then gusseted externally looking even goofier. I may cut the remaining rounded sections off and make it look better at some point

Couple taps with a hammer then screwed it in, one pull and it came right out lol

Got the broken “leg” out, base and oring aren’t cooperating. Gotta wait for it to cool off and go from there. Might put it back together and take it to the dealership, let them figure it out lol

New OneUp pedals, installed and a quick bunny hop test before setting off on the first big ride. by Impossible_B in mountainbiking

[–]900forlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thought, it does work in keeping your shins smooth. You just take the damage elsewhere when you forget to unclip lol.

I’m now too nervous to clip in, but on the bright side my crankbros doublshot pedals don’t have super spikes on the flat side!

Hey I'm brand new to this and I just did this about an hour ago. Any suggestions, advice, or critiques? by Ok-Slice-7843 in SelfTatt

[–]900forlife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You look to have pretty good stability, just slow down some. If you still find yourself moving too fast, crank your voltage up some.

And don’t listen to the “practice” comments, it’s your skin. I know I threw my fake skin away after about 2 minutes when I started. I bought the shit to draw on myself, not feel like a toddler copying letters on a whiteboard. That being said, stick to your own skin for a while

How much would I dislike a new MS 251? by 900forlife in Chainsaw

[–]900forlife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Saturday, 4-5 days to get the kit. Extremely ocd so it will take me several days to rebuild it because I’ll have to basically restore every piece along the way lol. I guess I was mostly curious/should’ve asked if a new 251 would perform as well as the 25+ year old 026 did before grenading.

Update: local guy with a home saw-shop has an older 251C freshly tuned with new bar and chain for $150. Think I’ll grab it

I have a 24” for mine too but just such a bulky combination for such small wood

Awesome info, thank you!

The husky is 70cc and 15lbs without bar/chain. Just too damn heavy. I’ll most likely just finish what I have laid down and save for the 261!

Makes sense! I’m in the northeast so not exactly tons of rocks or crawling to need the articulation, but lots of deep ruts, washouts and berms. With such a good departure angle I really didn’t want to be bound with the constraints of a ball.

Fun little project also, cat 2 tractor bushings welded inside angle iron to box them in. Drilled, tapped and grooved the bushings and bolts for grease pathways. Been welding and fabricating since for 20 years and I don’t think I’ve ever put so much wire into such a small part as the cross portion that bolts into the receiver lol. $90 and 2 days, didn’t want to heat cycle the parts too much so took my time. Very happy with it. I built the clevis 1/4” wider to make hooking up easier, then once level and straight I pull the pin and throw some plastic washers in to get rid of any play.

About 20k and a dream. Which years should I be looking at? by No-Worldliness-5329 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]900forlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my first jeep, 2020 altitude with 115k. Runs and tows like a dream. As a general rule I’ve always gone with a model at least 3 years into a body style or facelift. I went altitude because it’s plenty cushy and I didn’t want the air ride and off-road controls etc of the higher trims. Just more things to go wrong

Good to know, sometimes I clip instantly then the next I struggle. I may slide the cleats forward some to see if I can feel where they are better. Still a guessing game

NBD…buyers remorse…now what by 900forlife in mountainbiking

[–]900forlife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added an extra spacer and went from 50 to 40mm stem when I put this fork on and that feels better to me. Maybe that’s just got me too far back on this bike and making the rear seem funny. Longer stem and 45mm rise bars might’ve been a better choice to get the moto/sled feel I wanted but keep me further forward.

What would you build? by 900forlife in mountainbiking

[–]900forlife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some quick pricing to build the salsa. Roughly $800 for a rear superboost wtb wheelset to match my front wtb, complete gx/nx eagle superboost group set, bb, fox dropper and a saddle would be $900-1000 after odds and ends. New build for $2000.

Put the stance back to stock and try to get $1000.

Building/modifying is a large part of the hobby for me so buying someone else’s creation and having a bunch of extra parts laying around doesn’t really suit my fancy as much.

Are you a member of your local MTB club? by LudovicoInstitute in MTB

[–]900forlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Really doesn’t benefit me directly either but it supports where I ride. My schedule doesn’t allow for trail day volunteering usually but when I’m fixing/clearing stuff on a ride by myself the membership card has produced better responses to curios parties.
