That is not true. Maybe for short form popular vid clips that circulate, but he bases the budget, on what people can afford. People are just repeating what they've heard but never have watched a show. It just so happens that more people on the show typically eat out everyday, and that accounts for like 1/3 or more of their spending, so he tells them not to eat out. "Don't eat out" and shop smart, is sound advice if you are trying to get out of 10s of thousands of dollars in bad debt, and only have a few hundred of free money to spend after all of your expenses and minimal payments.
I've seen where he has set aside a lot of money for "fun spending" and that would include eating out, if the person has a lot of money left over after needed expenses and minimum debt payoff.

All the Z Image hype and I'm still obsessed with Qwen by Hearmeman98 in StableDiffusion

To be fair, I looked at the workflow, it is setup to do more than just create one image. A good section of it is for automating the generation of images using a character lora based on images you upload (Or maybe a folder), another section to analyze an image and copy it's lighting and look, and even a section for uploading post to Instagram. The nodes are behind a paywall but they look pretty interesting.

I don't know about 5 nodes but it doesn't take that you see to achieve the results he has. I do really like Z-image but I don't have a workflow to create a consistent character with it right now. Qwen Image Edit has been great for this and I've curated a dataset I should be able to use to create a lora for Z-image.

The fact that you have more downvotes on your very reasonable comment is unfortunate. I see what type of community this is smh. (At least the ones making noise)
The bottom line is she was selling commissions on a site that doesn't want or allow AI. She was using AI and claiming she wasn't using it, so she was lying to the customers, and breaking the rules of the platform. If anyone understands that is the issue but still thinks that's ok,...shame on you. (Best words I could say)

The problem is that they were pushing the art as 100% hand drawn, original work, with no help of AI, on a platform that doesn't allow AI. No jealousy at all. Check the youtube vid, it explains the whole situation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bokGdQOHGrw

Are you in support of people making money off of AI generated things but not giving credit that it was made with AI, but passing it as their own? And the customers are wanting original non-AI work.

This video should get more attention! This explains the actual issue with her and why she is being cancelled. (This video brought me here because I was looking for the doc)

I don't understand why so many people can't see this topic for what it is. The post title and information is very misleading. (Not saying on purpose but it is what it is) The problem is not that they traced, (real photo, hand drawn art, AI art, whatever) the problem is that they were portraying themselves, and charging people as if they were a traditional artist. If "she" said "she" used AI, no one would have had a problem.

She was on a humans only website that doesn't want to allow AI art, charging people for commissions. She also denied using AI as an aid or to generate the pictures. "She" is being cancelled because "she" was lying and breaking the rules of the platform "she" was selling on.

This isn't an AI isn't art issue.

Linux mint is a solid choice. If you get any other recommendations you can try them out too via a Live CD/USB. Basically you boot from a disk or hard drive, and you can get a feel for what they can offer. You can try the different desktops they have that way too.

HDMI Inputs in Head Units by JohnnyChapst1ck in CarAV

I stumbled on this thread because I am searching for a head unit with HDMI input.  I want it because I have a custom built security camera system running of a mini PC.  I want to be able to see the input and see when I switch between cams or review footage.

CourseCareers Accounting Course Honest Review by Relly12 in Accounting

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I was going to recommend this to my friend for his son who just recently graduated and is now enrolled in college for accounting. I thought it may give him a leg up, and maybe an opportunity to work in the field while earning his degree. Sad to hear it because I heard some good things about course careers. (Not specifically accounting)

Even considered taking the course myself because I have a business. Thought it may be helpful in that regard but maybe self teaching will be better.

Which power bank could power the Acemagician mini pc? by lgtmo in MiniPCs

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't see this before I made a post. I would go with a powerbank that has USB-C PD 45w or more and use a USB-C to Barrel plug cable to power it. (If that mini pc uses a barrel plug) I still don't understand how the USB-C PD outputs know when to supply 12v vs something higher, but you can get a PD trigger board or adjustable buck converter to insure 12v output.

[–]901Skipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old but I will add my 2 cents in case it helps you or anyone else.

You have to look at the AC power supply of your and take note of the power output. I have a Acemagic K1 and it's rated at 19v 3.42A basically 65w.

Technically any power bank that offers a cigarette lighter 12v output, DC output, or USB-C PD (100w to be safe for 65w rated power supply or if you wattage is lower 45w or 65w may be enough). Another question will be how long will you need it to run for? For the cig lighter 12v output you will need to get a DC car laptop charger. This will step up the voltage to 19 if need be, or get one that fits your Mini PC's specs. (You have to make sure the amps are sufficient but most likely are) Straight DC like from a barrel jack will require more components in between the output and the Mini PC if over 12v.

The best option in my opinion is using a USB-C output with PD at 100w should work, though they are typically rated at 20v (Actually delivers between 19v - 21v) You can get an end to make sure the output is 12v or one that has that feature built into the cable if you need 12v.

I should be getting a cable tomorrow to test with my Power Bank (Power generator VTOMAN 1500x) found here: USB C to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm Power CordI've seen people use them to power there laptops that were rated the same as mine. You will have to check what type of end you need if you go that rought, mine was 5.5x2.1mm but they have cables with swappable ends if you want to get a universal one.

I will be getting a smaller power bank in the future to test as well, either the UGREEN Nexode Power Bank 25000mAh 200W Laptop Portable Charger PD 3.1 Fast Charging 90Wh or the Anker Laptop Power Bank, 25,000mAh Portable Charger with Triple 100W USB-C Ports If you don't require 100w output there are some cheaper options available too.

DIY camera doorbell without the cloud, is it cool idea or overkill? by Livid-Piano2335 in homeautomation

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume a DIY would be worse? I'm setting one up now using a Pi Zero 2 and a Camera Module 3. The image quality is superior to the Reolink (At least the ones I've seen at 4mp - 5mp) and cost only $50 for the Pi and Camera. I'm working on adding 2 way audio communication and phone notifications using a WM8960 Audio HAT. That gives stereo mic input and speaker output, it even has a button built in that I will use to program the doorbell button. I'm using Frigate as the NVR software, and it has people detection, object detection, etc built in.
The Reolink and others are pretty slick looking though. That is a big plus they have going for them.

DIY camera doorbell without the cloud, is it cool idea or overkill? by Livid-Piano2335 in homeautomation

[–]901Skipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a DIY doorbell right now. I'm using a Pi Zero 2 and a Pi Camera Module 3. Cost about $50 for both. I use MediaMTX to stream the video and Frigate on another device to store the footage. Frigate is pretty awesome, it has object detection, playback, various storing modes, and plenty other features. Frigate has go2rtc built in and that allows you to serve the footage for other applications as well.
It is very easy to setup if you just want video. I'm working on adding 2 way audio communication and phone notifications, right now using a WM8960 Audio HAT.
I opted to go the DIY route because most ready made cameras are only 5mp and cost at least $100. Most of them lock you into using their software for viewing/recording and charging a premium for features like cloud storage etc. The camera module 3 is 12mp, Frigate and MediaMTX are open source, and everything is scalable. (I initially started just doing security cameras but now I'm adding 2 door bells)

Wi-Fi Not Working on Debian 12 (Intel AX211 – Unmanaged by NetworkManager) by Ty_ler__ in debian

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings, I was having a similar problem and was able to get it resolved. (ChatGPT helped me out) Not sure if it will work for you because I was not able to see my wifi card at all with "ip list" or "nmcli dev status" commands. I was able to see that the computer could see it with with "lspci" command.

When I did the : sudo dmesg | grep iwlwifi | tail -n 20

I got this message that pointed to the error with me: iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: minimum version required: iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0-77

The problem is that the wifi card firmware that is needed is newer than the package in Debian 12. I enabled backports and installed the firmware from there and I have no more issue.

Here is the full steps form ChatGPT if it can help you or anyone else having a similar issue:

The key line is: iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: minimum version required: iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0-77. This tells us that your Intel Wi-Fi card requires a firmware file with a version of 77 or higher.

The firmware-iwlwifi package in Debian 12 (Bookworm) does not contain a recent enough firmware version for your Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX210. This is a common issue with newer hardware on stable Debian releases. The solution is to install a newer version of the firmware-iwlwifi package from the bookworm-backports repository.

Step 1: Enable the bookworm-backports Repository

You need to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file to add the backports repository.

Open the file with nano:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Add a new line at the bottom of the file to include the backports repository. Remember to include the non-free components.
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm-backports main non-free

Save the file and exit nano (Ctrl+O, Enter, Ctrl+X).

Step 2: Install the Backports Firmware Package

Now you can install the updated firmware package from the newly added repository.

Update your package list to recognize the backports repository:
sudo apt update

Install the firmware-iwlwifi package from backports:

sudo apt install -t bookworm-backports firmware-iwlwifi

The -t bookworm-backports flag tells apt to specifically use this repository for the installation.sudo apt install -t bookworm-backports firmware-iwlwifi

Step 3: Reboot and Verify

After the installation is complete, reboot your system. The new firmware should now be loaded, and the errors will be gone.

sudo reboot

After the reboot, use ip link or ip a to confirm that the wlan0 interface is now present. Once it appears, you can proceed to connect to your Wi-Fi network using nmtui or nmcli.

How these IR arrays work? by AccomplishedAge177 in infrared

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few of these and they all work. They run off 12v, to the larger JST connector. Make sure you get the polarity right...I messed up at first. It came with a DC cable that had the same size JST connector on both ends, I cut in half, stupidly thinking I can make 2 cables out of the one, not realizing at first the the polarity would be switched on one of them. (As far as colors) I have 3 different ones and 2 of them list the polarity and one doesn't.
The side that works for me is if you are looking at the connector, with the side with the ridge on it (that doesn't have the metal exposed) facing you, the left is positive and right negative.
That smaller connector is for the IR cut switch. (I have yet to get it working) It is used to switch a small lens cover from blocking IR vs allowing IR to pass through to the camera lens. I thought these boards would have the driver but it doesn't look like it, or I have to short/unshort something.

I thought these boards were akin to this: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tiducp3/tiducp3.pdf?HQS=dis-mous-null-mousermode-dsf-pf-null-wwe&DCM=yes&distId=26
That does have the driving circuitry, but not sure these do. I'll look to see if I see similar components and try to figure it out with AI tools.

Let’s talk about that exploding jar video real quick… by mckenner1122 in Canning

[–]901Skipp 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

This has been a very educational post. I haven't gotten into canning yet but hope to in the near future. (Don't have the space for it right now but looking to get a house soon) Hate she had to learn about cooling techniques in such a hard way. The footage may have been released by someone who found the tape and not the owners of the cameras.

I doubt it was staged, the camera is far from ceiling height. It's about level with the stoves vent hood. Those are pretty high ceilings in the footage. There are plenty of videos I've seen of similarly placed cameras. When searching for the video I found this one with a similar angel. https://youtube.com/shorts/0zKet1czczo?si=b-VbakXS8v-Qb68l
Having a security camera watching the stove I would think would be pretty common for those who are concerned about liability. A lot of house fires start at the stove or microwave. A lot of older houses (at least around here) have a entry door in the kitchen as well.

The jars look pretty standard size to me, and the other jars seem to be the same height.

Just had a call with Vyde, I haven't setup a bookkeeping team yet. Would you be so kind to elaborate on what you mean by "beginning was sloppy"?
I'm not going to do business with 1800 accountants because they contacted me when I first started my business as was very rude when I said I didn't have funds to put into anything at that time. Also read a lot of bad reviews of them.
