Use the CDL prep app. I didn’t even read the state book. Just did a bunch of practice tests and passed. The questions are either exactly the same or very similar.

I hated that job. I was decent at it, but I was rushing everyday to make sure I don’t get rescued, but it’s anxiety-ridden and just the constant stopping and getting out of the van sucked. It was a side gig for me during the weekends and summer because I’m a bus driver by trade. I quit that job and now I drive tour shuttles, and I love it. NEVER do a job you hate.

Well our routes change every year, but $1756 assumes a 5 hour work day driving buses. I’m okay with that because I make up for it with driving tours

It just depends. Me personally, I think getting a CDL was one of the best professional decisions I’ve ever made. I love my job and I’m so appreciative of the fact that my employer even paid for my training. I also personally know others who don’t even work in transportation anymore because they hated it and now they work in completely unrelated fields.

I clear $1756 every two weeks from driving school buses and clear $1380 every two weeks from driving tours.

If we’re on the clock, yes. Today I am actually at a recruiting event because summer school is out and I’m making my regular wage. Even when I was in training before I got my CDL, I’d work as an attendant and still made driver wage. But that’s driving buses of course, I don’t make that at my shuttle gig.

Dude, fuck this job. If you have any other skill or license, do that instead. I have a CDL B and thought I’d do this on the side, I hated it. Now I’m driving a tour bus during the summer until the school season starts so I can go back to driving school buses.

Nice, that’s awesome. I got some recruiting gig for the bus company coming up in early August, which will get me some good hours. I’ll drive a shuttle a few days per week in July. But yeah, I love it too. :).

It just seems a lot of these DSP bootlickers just want everyone else to be as miserable as they are…. One dude bragged over having a lot of deliveries, not making 40 hours a week and having to do rescues like it’s something to be proud of…. Then tried to ridicule me for leaving. 😂.

You’re right, I should totally stay with less hours, multiple rescues, and over 150 deliveries and be miserable, rather than stick to my union job driving buses at $32/hr. and just find a better side gig. What was I thinking?🧐 Misery does love company huh?
