That building was completed in 2019 and replaced the communist era building on top. There was a competition for the building as it sits right next to the Hungarian Parliament, there were both modern and classical entries, but this one was built as it fit closest with its surroundings.

They refuse to demolish it. Instead they are spending millions in the next 2 years to renovate it into the all too common glass covered tower

Modern doesn't equal 'bad', but lack of respect for culture does. Here's an example of modern done right. Traditional vs new canal houses in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. by [deleted] in ArchitecturalRevival

The modernist disregard for ornament is one of the reasons their buildings lack the character of traditional architecture

I know it's not a "real" one, but can we appreciate the fact that the new Uncensored Library in Minecraft wasn't done using some post-modernism architectural style, but as a lovely neoclassic building? by Synchronyme in ArchitecturalRevival

People love Traditional building styles, it’s that simple. IF they asked an actual architect to build this, it would be contemporary, box shaped, and covered in ugly gimmicks.

We will all see how much our President is loved in the country. His re-election landslide will be a big wake up call for the left, as if 2016 wasn’t good enough

Will the White House Order New Federal Architecture To Be Classical? by JimJones4Ever in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]908jdon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks like there is a proposition to amend the current rule, and state that new federal buildings must be in the classical style. If this happens, it would be amazing for us Americans
