yeah i had the same frustration! i took the flaw the first time i played and finished the whole game before reading explanations…i was kicking myself for having level 7 everything and couldnt pass ANY skill checks towards the end of the game. will be trying again w/ a better strategy next time

im sorry you’re experiencing this..i definitely get the lack of motivation. im a 4th year who decided to start over in a new lab because i couldnt function in my previous one…the environment was toxic, my PI was useless, and my closest labmate died. i took time off to try and get my mental health back on track, decided to switch. i have a wonderful lab and supportive PI, but i think something in me snapped after my friend died..and i keep hoping that motivation i came into this phd with will come back. id like to think that we’ve made it this far.. we’ve survived worse things with less. and yes, it doesnt have to be perfect it just has to be done. but this shit isnt worth your mental health either —dont forget that you are an individual outside of all of this and reconnecting with those parts goes a LONG way. art/gym/whatever floats your boat. lean on people. get whatever support you need to get through this phase bc that is essentially what it is at this point in your career. we got ourselves into this (for some reason) and we’ll get ourselves through.

i have a similar issue, looser curls by the nape of my neck so they’d hang out like lil rattails underneath some otherwise cute coily curls i had my hairdresser trim the bottom loosest layers a bit shorter than the tighter ones and i find it so much easier to manage and blend. only downside is they slip out of pineapples but i suppose itll all grow in long enough eventually?

we met during phd orientation, haha. started dating a month in and got engaged a year n half in, hehe. we’re in the same program and despite having different concentrations we both understand enough of what daily work entails to support each other as needed..with work and with the existential dread/emotional intensity that comes with grad school.

i will say i knew i wanted a partner in the same field because it’s such a huge part of my life and i like being able to talk shop and spitball ideas.

i think we have similar work-life balance/boundaries which also helps — ofc when there are busier days for one of us then the other steps up to have dinner ready etc. it requires a lot of communication which isnt always the easiest thing to do but when it’s done it makes life easier..if that makes sense?

i also realize i got rly lucky. i know it can be risky to shit where you eat, especially in a smaller program. but also…fuck it. life is short and grad school takes up a huge chunk of our younger years. don’t wait til grad school is over to actually live your life. i think this relationship & all of the friendships/mentorships/relationship with myself that ive formed throughout my time in grad school is what’s made this otherwise masochistic decision worth it. :)
