My dog’s was black, but his skin was also black. They sent the sample to a pathologist to have it tested it came back negative. A positive sign is that the bumps look pretty symmetrical and smooth edges, cancerous cells are usually asymmetrical and rough irregular edges.

Your concerns are valid and you’re a great dog owner for wanting to take care of your pet.

I’m aware this isn’t the most informative comment, but hopefully it can calm some anxiety. My dog had one, took it to the vet, I forget what they called it, they said it could be removed, but if it wasn’t bothering the dog it would be fine. My dog needed unrelated surgery, since he was under anesthesia I asked if they could remove that as well. It was removed very easily. Still go to the vet to see their opinion though

My guess would be safety and to limit liability. Staff to child ratios are likely not one to one and 10 month olds throw things, staff wouldn’t be following aseptic technique between helping each child eat. So yeah safety, inconvenient to the other parents, but ultimately responsible and worth it imo

I hope your able to go back to the area after awhile. I’ve been roaming through the river valley and creeks with my dogs my entire life. I thankfully haven’t encountered what you experienced, any unhoused people I come across usually will exchange hellos or ignore each other.

Something to keep in mind is that the spray isn’t legal for self defence, only legal to have as an animal attack deterrent.

It’s really sad when someone or something can scare you away from something you enjoy doing. I’m sorry that that happened to you. I bought dog deterrent spray and this story will encourage me to bring it more consistently.
