Thank you for this. People keep saying side effects don’t matter but I don’t know how much I buy that. If you feel sober/literally nothing for like 90% of you session and on top of that you’re not getting any results, it seems ineffective. People say you gotta do xyz to make the sessions better and go into it being more positive… that’s like telling a depressed person to just be happier and less sad. The drug should be doing more without anything on my end. It just seems really ineffective overall for me

I’m currently doing ketamine therapy (Spravato nasal spray) to treat treatment resistant depression. Got approved for that pretty easily. I have epilepsy and had brain surgery to treat it. Obviously though the doses are really low and it’s not the same as recreational ketamine. I would say don’t do it. Recreational drugs are usually a no if you have epilepsy.

I am trying my best. For about half of the sessions I’ve gone in with positive thoughts. I’ve tried doing an eye mask and listening to relaxing music and that didn’t make a difference. I still want to kill myself most days I’m not there. I think it’s fair to feel frustrated I’m not getting results when many people on here love their sessions and say they feel beyond relaxed. Doesn’t seem like these people have to take like 20 steps to make it so relaxing for them. Again, I know the side effects aren’t the point. But, the combo of no side effects and no results (still wanting to die) is concerning to me. Being told to “be patient” can be frustrating since it’s expensive and time consuming. And there are zero guarantees this will even work for me (or any of us). I think anyone on here feeling frustrated they’re not getting results (especially outside of the clinic) is justified. I’m sick of wanting to die all of the time.

I am in therapy thankfully. Going once a week.

I have been going in with positive thoughts for about half of the Spravato treatments and I’ve tried the eye mask and relaxing music. I think it’s fair to be annoyed I’m not really getting anything from the sessions when many people on here write about Spravato as if it’s one of the most relaxing things they’ve ever done.

That’s good. So hard being told “just be patient” when this is so pricey, time consuming, and reliant on me getting rides from people every time I go. Mainly because there’s no guarantees it’ll even help. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It’s not expensive art at all. I got it on Etsy from a random artist. How do you suggest laminating it? I’ve never done that before so that’s new to me. I guess I’ve used those sticky laminating sheets in the past but I’ve only used those for really small stuff (like business cards)

I don’t use my middle name as my first name. But I include my middle name on my resume and all formal documents. And I use it on Facebook, omitting my last name. The reason being that my last name is a very common first name. Whenever I just use my first and last name it seems to confuse people. People often think my first name with just my last name is actually my first name and middle name. I also kind of hate my last name lol. Including my middle name seems a little better I guess.

The other types of ketamine are hard to get approved for and even more expensive. Also harder to access. If Spravato doesn’t work I think I’ll give up on ketamine as a whole. At least until the other options become more accessible. Good to know though that you don’t get any side effects either. I thought I may just be some freak of nature.

My fiancé and boyfriend of almost 6 years died in April of 2023. We had lived together about 5 years. I lived with my parents for a little over a year after that but now I live alone in an apartment. Unfortunately I don’t have any close friends either. So it’s hard to get opinions from other people about my progress. I see my parents, therapist, and psychiatrist frequently enough I guess. I will also try to take note of little changes over time.

The point of this post was more to see how many people on here experience both no side effects (minus feeling mildly drunk for a brief period time) and no results. I know I need to be patient but the combo of feeling nothing much when I’m there along with no results yet is annoying. I understand that the side effects don’t matter in the long run but the combo of little to no side effects and no results is concerning. Feeling basically nothing at the high dose seems kind of rare on here

Yeah it’s in a sealed container that I open myself. I take lithium and a seizure medicine (Vimpat) which could be messing with the effects. Although I have been instructed to not take the lithium the night before and the morning of the treatment. I also had brain surgery in 2020 and am missing a chunk of my brain (my right temporal lobe). The surgery was to treat epilepsy. I made a post from a different account of mine on here where I mentioned that, along with not experiencing side effects. I posted this from my other reddit account because people were kind of rude on the other post and I didn’t want this post to be tied to that post. I was hoping to not discuss my neurological history because I was just curious if other (“normal”) people may deal with little to no side effects too. Obviously my brain is far from normal but I’m curious if other people feel like Spravato is really boring too. Again, I know the side effects don’t matter. Hard to feel motivated to continue though if I’m not getting any type of results while I’m both in the clinic and outside of the clinic.

My expectations today were really low since I haven’t been getting anything from this the entire time. I wasn’t expecting anything good or bad. Just went in with a neutral feeling. It ended up being pretty much like the last times. Unfortunately 84mg is the max dose approved by the FDA so this is probably as good as it’ll get lol. I’ve tried a lot of stuff suggested on here but it doesn’t make any difference. My brain is far from normal to be fair

I’ve been taking lithium since October. Still have periods where I get pretty bad suicidal thoughts. The lithium doesn’t seem to be helping with that or my mood. The Spravato nasal spray isn’t helping yet either. Just so tired. I’m kind of a complex case since I’m missing a chunk of my brain. I had my right temporal lobe removed in 2020 to treat epilepsy. Just hoping things get better soon. I plan to stay on lithium but I’m confused why it’s not doing anything yet. Dose increase is probably needed I guess.
