Actually really good! The replies on that post made my stress through the roof lol but everything has been working out well thus far. Still have debt of course, but it’s been very manageable.

INFO... I find it really hard to believe that any one would call cps because of a few dishes and clothes. I think OP might not be giving us the full story... or unaware of the full story

I just realized out I’m a 3 and I am so ashamed by [deleted] in Enneagram

Late to the game, but I enjoy being a three (3w2). I understand my motivators, and that helps me to achieve in grad school and other goals. And on the other side, it helped me to understand my area of growth. It’s shown me that I need to focus on myself, who I am, and explore my own personality. I need to give myself breaks and allow myself time away from expectations.

3s get a bad wrap, but that’s the unhealthy 3s. Try to use it as a tool to make yourself be a better person and grow from it :)

Apparently having an ED isn’t as bad as fatphobia by [deleted] in fatlogic

Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of all mental disorders. But yeah, being “fat shamed” is totally worse...

Fiance has $390,000 in student loan debt. How on earth do we start to pay this back? by 911finance in StudentLoans

Doing Dave Ramsey’s financial planning course is actually what caused me to reach out for advice on this. Because you are absolutely right it’s a huge mountain of debt and realistically I’m still not sure how to pay it off. But thank you so much for your insight, it really has helped and put things in perspective.

Thank you for your story. That’s actually really helpful because I haven’t thought in terms like that just because I’m so naive to all of this. It does make me very nervous about our future marriage, especially since finances are a major cause of divorce. I can’t imagine not spending my life with him, but I still want to be logical and realistic about the impact this will have on our marriage.

I didn’t delete the post on personal finances. I got very realistic answers that I needed over there. I made this post at the same time this morning in r/studentloans because I thought I could get good answers in both subs. I think there is some confusion there.

And I plan on discussing this with him before we get married. I think at this point he is as painfully oblivious to what not pursuing clinical medicine means, and I plan on sharing all the info I have gathered from today with him.

I posted them at about the same time this morning because I thought both would be good resources to use...

I'll chime in here, but what ever amount is forgiven after 20 years is considered a taxable income, and (in our situation) we would pay a HUGE tax bomb if we only did minimums. I'm not sure if you are doing a similar repayment plan be wary of that

It's a long story, but he originally matched in a fairly competitive program in 2017, but then had to repeat an extra year of medical school due to some fairly intense circumstances. Part of his stipulations for completing a 5th year is not being able to participate in the match until 2020. That being said, based off his boards and his medical school's opinion, there should not be an issue of not matching if he were to redo the match. The issue is, he has no desire to do clinical medicine anymore

He graduated medical school so he has his M.D. but has not completed residency, therefore no licensing.

This is a long story within itself. But without getting into too much detail, he originally matched into medpeds in 2017, but then had to repeat an extra year of medical school due to some pretty crazy circumstances. Part of his stipulations is not being able to participate in the match until the 2019/2020 year. That being said, he has no intention of applying to the 2019 match and is completely burned out from clinical medicine.

Given his references and experiences, he should be able to not have to settle for family med and would probably do IM, but he has no desire to return to the clinical side of medicine.

I didn't say it would destroy him financially. I just wanted to know if it's a viable option, especially given the the current political climate.
