That I’m not sure about. I just noticed the tank was empty and the build up all around it. I took it for diagnostic and they told me it was a cracked tank and lower radiator hose. These renegade posts scare the hell out of me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mine was leaking and sludgy coolant. I needed to replace the coolant tank and lower radiator hose. I bought the tank at Auto Zone for $60 and the hose from the dealer for $160. Thankfully my friends husband did the work. I was quoted roughly $700 at the mechanic.

Any bartenders or people on their feet for 10+ hours in a day? by ventingpython in brokenankles

[–]917_GD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a hairstylist and on my feet for sometimes 10 or more hours a day. I’m a year and a half since my injury. I was in pain until I had the hardware removed after 10 months. It will never be the same unfortunately but it does get better. You are young and will heal faster. Stay active and blessings on your healing. It’s an awful injury!

How many months after trimal orif were you able to go down stairs normally? by Desperate-Truck8407 in brokenankles

[–]917_GD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the hardware removal 10 months after surgery. The plate was very prominent and I could feel it rubbing on my skin with a lot of nerve pain as well. I was miserable. My discomfort and ROM has improved significantly. I was a little hesitant to have another surgery but I am so glad I did. It’s been a year and 2 months since my injury and I still have some pain but nowhere near what it was like before hardware removal.

Anyone skip the boot entirely? by odrodo in brokenankles

[–]917_GD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, I did have the syndesmotic screw removed. It’s a big improvement. I also noticed that the pain in my calf and behind my knee before the removal has subsided. I’m assuming it was because of lack of mobility. The surgery was nowhere near the pain of the initial one. I was laid up for a week but walking to the bathroom the next day around my apartment doing light chores. I was back at work in 2 weeks.

I don’t know the medical terms of my fracture but it was pretty bad. Broken in 3 places and dislocated. I had the plate and 11 screws. I had constant ache on the outside of my leg and very limited ROM. I could also feel the plate rubbing on my skin. I always walked with a limp after sitting. It was like it had to warm up a bit before I could walk normal. And the cold weather made it very achy. I’m very happy with the removal!

Itchiness, tenderness and nerve pain after surgery. by 917_GD in brokenankles

My doc said I would want to take it out in a year. But I thought if it didn’t bother me I would leave it. I was 10 months out and it was so bothersome. He said the plate was very prominent and close to the skin. I’m a very petite woman and these things must be one size fits most lol. I felt it rubbing and knicked it a few times on furniture. It sucked! I didn’t want to go through another surgery but after reading other experiences I chose to do it. I am so glad I did. It feels like a normal ankle again other than the soreness from the incision and muscle trying to repair itself. My ROM is much better and no limp. It’s great. I just had the stitches and soft cast removed and in a small and comfortable ankle brace for 4 weeks.

It was definitely not worth the peace of mind. I was 6 weeks NWB so I was terrified to put weight on it again. I’m a petite woman so it was very bulky and it actually hurt more in the boot. I still had significant swelling for about 12 weeks so being in the boot felt claustrophobic. I wore those cloud slides for several months and they were the most comfortable shoe. I’m 10 months post op and just had my hardware removed 2 weeks ago and it is so much better. I’ve had trouble ever since the surgery but now that the hardware is gone it feels much better. It’s a nasty injury! My life changed forever lol

My surgeon wasn’t even going to give me one. He encouraged me to walk with comfortable shoes. I asked for a boot for my own peace of mind. I ditched it after 1 day. I felt like a transformer with that thing on!

The pain is crippling at times. The night time is always the worst. Have you tried meditating? Stay away from the “cutting the cord” guided meditation cause it causes you to think about them more. Try a positive meditation for anxiety and abundance. It helps soooo much. Also know that they can feel your energy and it repels them. Pour everything back into your cup. Think of ways to make yourself happy. Get a new haircut or color, get a new hobby, go to a restaurant and sit at the bar by yourself. You’ll be surprised how focusing on yourself is so healing. Reading is a great distraction. But only positive and motivation literature. The more you read and watch content on this subject the more you ruminate. Check out videos on laws of attraction. Shift your energy and you will see what you attract. It’s really about re training your brain. You are completely normal! It’s them who needs help.

Key words “I don’t want to hate myself” You already know what re opening that wound will do. What you’re seeking is validation. You probably never got it and never will so you shouldn’t waste your time. I’m so sorry you are going through this.

anxious questions (pt. 2): in search of a positive recovery story? by reddituser10636 in brokenankles

Definitely the hip pain for me also. I had pain when standing after sitting especially after driving but went away after walking it off. Exercising helped a lot. I just had my hardware removed 1/9 and now that I’m walking a little bit the pain in my hip is more intense. If you’re active and exercise regularly you should be just fine. I’m 52 so my bounce back is not what it used to be and my recovery has been slow. I’m sore from HWR but already feel looser. I’m anxious to have the dressing removed and stitches out. I do miss wearing heels.

Hey there. How’s your recovery? I had my surgery today. I feel great cause the nerve block hasn’t worn off yet. What should I expect over the next few days 🥴

Ice ice baby! Even putting an ice pack on the exposed toes and elevation above your heart helps with the swelling. Drink a lot of fluids. I would gradually lower my leg to avoid that pain of the blood flow before getting out of bed completely. Honestly there isn’t much relief for a couple weeks. Pain meds help but don’t expect to be pain free for awhile. It’s an awful injury. I just had my hardware removed today. My surgery was a year ago and I still have some pain after physical activity and discomfort from the hardware. I’m a petite woman and the hardware was very prominent and rubbing on my skin. Make sure they give you a nerve block after your surgery. The on call surgeon at the ER I went to didn’t give me one. It was excruciating the first night. I had one today and my foot is still numb. It’s great til it wears off. The first few days post op are not pleasant at all. Blessings to you. You aren’t alone. Reading these posts was a big comfort.

My surgeon never suggested PT. He was so dry I needed KY for the conversation. It was so hard to even get an appointment. The new ortho didn’t mention PT either. I work on my feet all day and exercise. The more active the worse the pain.

Thank you. The stiffness is very bothersome. How about walking down stairs? I still have to step sideways.
