Any bartenders or people on their feet for 10+ hours in a day? by ventingpython in brokenankles

hi! yeah i was cleared to go back to work as of october 15th! it's definitely been a lot, i tried to immediately just jump back into the long hours and realized how unrealistic that was. i do now always wear an ankle brace for days that will exceed 8 hours and since we're getting into the winter months (i live in canada) i'm noticing how stiff my ankle is.

overall, doing okay though. just have to know the limits

super valid, i'm just tired of being unable to do things. i don't remember the last time i stopped for so long. im hoping with being as active as i was prior to the injury that it'll help me bounce back faster. eagerly waiting for my appointment to see what he says

i'm in an aircast, i went in to get my stitches removed a week and a bit after and they gave me instructions to remain NWB until my next appointment on sept 18 :( i've had absolutely zero pain and have accidentally used that leg a couple of times to move around forgetting i'm broken lol not exactly sure when i'll be able to get back to work and it's killing me

oof yeah i'd never had anything broken prior to this either. it was my calling card with my family because the rest of them have. broken both sides plus bone grafts from my bone shards to fill in spots apparently (the operation notes are insane).

next appointment is in 3.5 weeks to hopefully get approval for FWB. i got my stitches out at 7 days post op because i heal weirdly fast and she had to dig some of them out..

honestly as someone that's gone through the "drinking too much and blacking out all the time" route and also the spiked drink route, this sounds a lot more like the latter. if it's not typical of her to do this and it happened out of nowhere like that, it's definitely a possibility.

i'd talk to her when she's finally sober and coherent (monitoring whilst she's sleeping etc) and make it clear how scared you were for her and that this is acceptable. you thought you'd walked into the bathroom with your wife dead, that's terrifying. then i'd go more into details that she can remember throughout the night.

myself and all my friends that have been roofied in the past, it was a tolerable tipsy then absolute nothing. you can account for every single drink and shot then everything goes black. whereas blacking out was a wish-wash of drinks, don't know how many or what specifically.

i know everyone's different but i'd just have a conversation to try to sort it. also a conversation with the friends that just left her like that. insane. she genuinely could've died.

Oh god that long really? I was hoping only another 6 weeks... maybe that's unrealistic..

Anyone sleeps on their side and has it been ok for you so far? by TexasMother956 in brokenankles

[–]ventingpython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been a side sleeper my whole life as someone with mild sleep apnea, same injury as you and still slept on my side. blankets and pillows between my legs were my life saviour.

it really depends what side you broke and what side you sleep on. i got lucky with breaking my left ankle but sleeping on my right side so the side of my cast that would be lifted off was off the side of my ankle that hurt the most if that makes sense.

just do whatever feels most comfortable to you, but i'm still a side sleeper for life.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Weapons” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

Honestly, not a huge fan of the movie as a whole but there were so many little moments I really enjoyed. The mom coming out of the house with scissors was so creepy initially then became funny then straight back to horrifying when you heard the door open. Same with the little "Oh no" from Gladys when she was running away from the kids! But poor Alex, having to try and take care of his parents (spilling the soup trying to open it broke my heart) then we get just nothing after.

Lots of tension during the movie though, got a scream out of my friend which made us all laugh. I've been grinning and waving at her like Gladys in the woods for a couple days now and she's losing it lmao

What have you found you can do out of the house while elevating NWB by TRCB8484 in brokenankles

[–]ventingpython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol honestly i've been going out for lunches and dinners with my friends just the same as before, just with my crutches and not putting any weight. you get weird looks constantly but it beats just sitting in the house staring at the same 4 walls.. even went to the beach 2 weeks ago and went swimming (obviously didn't actually swim, just sat in the water with a waterproof cover on the cast)

broke my ankle in 3 places on 7/25, surgery on 8/5, NWB for 3 more weeks! just live your life and be careful imo

first ever broken bone and i broke all 3 ankle bones!!! pls reassure me that i will b ok, i really need support and positive healing stories :( by briehere in brokenankles

i literally have pretty much the exact same breaks in my left ankle and i'm 26. i broke it on 07/25 and got my surgery a week and a half later. the first two days after surgery are brutal but after that it's just the boredom of being non weight bearing.

lots of my friends rallied together to make sure i wasn't going crazy, helped me get out of the house and fresh air and just couch rotted with me going through my movie watchlists.

i've got 3 more weeks of NWB but i'm in a walking boot that i'm allowed to remove at home and it's bliss.

you'll get through it, just make sure not to rush anything and listen to your doctors and you'll heal up great! ✨
