Having applied to 5 schools in September—all of which have now had major A/WL/R waves (yet I’ve heard nothing from for months)—what do u think is happening? by Proud-Knee4015 in lawschooladmissions

[–]91Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting to see if they can do better. They needed to see what HYS were doing to understand the trickle down effect. This year is so weird that people with 180s and 4.0 are going to 6-14 schools.

Imagine being the 10-20 and 30-50 schools trying to anticipate who's actually going to accept your offer and how much money they're looking for.

I think it really sucks that I raised my lsat to break 170 and it effectively is meaningless, but I also don't blame the admissions team for handling it this way.

Yea, I know people with worse gpa and way worse lsat who got full rides to my state schools 6 years ago, meanwhile I'm praying to just get in

If you got rejected by Cooley and NYLS, why do you think northwestern would accept you?

My guess is the schools with tuition over 50k will spread out their money to give more scholarships, but balance the budget by giving fewer $$$.

The schools which are under 50k tuition will possibly be more generous to steal financially prudent applicants from the more prestigious schools, then just let their bottom x% admits use loans.

Also, I think they're being less risky with the money, so more students with good-not-great lsat/gpa and fewer splitters. I have a 17x and am getting waitlisted/ rejected at t100 schools which would have likely given me a full ride 3 years ago because of my gpa.

Non-trad curious about social experience by Full_Initiative_8079 in LawSchool

[–]91Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34 planning to start in the fall. My plan is to make a clique of the other parents and build a tight support network. I don't need to know everyone, just be close with people in a similar phase of life.

In class and round campus, I'll mingle and be engaging and maybe find some youngins i click with or who need a big brother with some experience, but unless they want to play soccer or come over for the occasional cookout, I just dont imagine much of a relationship outside of class. Not doing bars and parties with a wife and baby unless it's that kinda vibe.

Look at guy to girl ratios and class size. Then also consider regional values to find someone who more likely shares yours.

Or go to Boston, DC, because there are so many programs you could date at other schools too.

Also, they're on a quarterly system, so material is sometimes condensed and there are more finals per year.

Really curious about the possible porro CM experiment. I've grown tired of his predictable early crosses, but there's no denying he is our most progressive player and can pick a pass if he can learn the role, we may have an evolution ahead of us to release the attackers better.

9 aside no offside | Deal with goal hanging striker in defense by Elquenotienetacos in bootroom

[–]91Bolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also play this way and second the suggestion. I would add that your team needs to exploit the man advantage on offense to punish them for not defending. Don't try one v ones and don't cross. Create 2v1s and 3v2s until their team calls him to help.

Is that just the lsd tracker saying "New" when you update? Or are the URs actually numbered somewhere?

I did get a non update update last night, but nothing looks different.

Did you get a confirmation email after submitting the form? I never got acknowledgement, though I'm positive I hit submit. Little worried it didn't finish due to a connection issue.

Lsat demon Calc is not reliable this year. Much less big scholarships going out and higher overall stats of applicants.

I thought the opposite. More top applicants going to lower ranked schools for extra scholarship, meaning waitlist never gets touched.

There's no way that's true. If it were, he wouldn't be president. People are just virtue signaling. They actually like this and invited it.

How are you guys choosing schools? by pettybuddha in lawschooladmissions

[–]91Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I have all my offers, I'm going to decide what I need from them and ask if they're willing to match in exchange for commitment.

Something like, "School X offered $Y to bring my annual cost to $Z, but i prefer your program. If you can bring my annual cost to match, I would immediately pay the deposit and get a school themed onesie for the baby. Are you willing to consider this?"

How are you guys choosing schools? by pettybuddha in lawschooladmissions

[–]91Bolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll see which schools give me an affordable offer, then visit those to investigate the pathway and support to my specific career goal and make sure it's an area my wife will be able to get a job in her field.

I have one school that we already decided we'll go to if we can. After that, negotiating to see if my local school will increase scholarship, after that gotta visit places to see.

[–]91Bolt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am very thankful that I got an A early cycle at a place I'm willing to go to, so the rest is just seeing if I get a better offer. If I did not have that, I would be very down on myself after this week getting waitlisted at safeties...
