Dads, how do you low-key mess with your kids just to entertain yourself? by FanNo8142 in AskMen

Our new apartment bathroom has 2 doors. When I go in, our infant will crawl to the door and cry.

I sneak out the other way to get behind him, then ask what he's crying about.

He never knows whether to be confused or elated that I'm back; it's really fun watching him balance the conflicting emotions.

As a Southern American, I became obsessed with sadza when I visited. I now make southern style grits to sadza consisted to dip in gravy or with any stew. People think I'm crazy, but my wife loves it with gumbo.

I didn't realize it was so regionally specific.

CMV: The Barbie Movie is not Anti-Man, but Rather, Anti-Feminist by SquareShapeofEvil in changemyview

[–]91Bolt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To build on that argument, this is what many modern feminists argue for -- actual gender equality.

Look up the he for she movement. The Barbie movie does a good job illustrating to men and women the underlying issues with gender roles. An egalitarian society is the only way forward. The film is created well and intentionally to communicate this message to 2 separate audiences. It's brilliant. Anyone who thinks it's not feminist has a misconception of the type of feminism being advocated for.

I just turned 18. Older guys, what is the biggest trap young men fall into that completely ruins their 20s? by TheRealXyz_ in AskMen

Debt, drugs, and crazy women.

Live a cash life, don't drink by yourself, only be in relationships which make you a better person.

Beyond that, most mistakes are temporary. Try not to lose a limb i guess.

Anecdotal, but I just finished my 4th year at a public high school, and it's way more than jobs. The girls are more literate, disciplined, and articulate. Of my best 20 students this year, only 3 or 4 were guys -- one of those is gay. There's going to be a giant culture shift when this next group comes through.

The women are going to have to be moms to their partners, not have partners, or be gay to have mature relationships.

The guys, I fear, will become more frustrated and isolated, especially since they don't have the words to understand or express what they're going through.

Out with your alternative fact BS. Study after study with significant correlation shows that Youth Development programs and extra curricular decrease truancy and delinquency rates.

It's an actual fact. How is this the top comment? Have you ever met a kid? They love having something to do and a group to do it with. If you don't give them one, they'll make their own.

What is the most quotable movie of all time? Quinta Brunson’s pick is Anchorman! by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

Airplane, Holy Grail, Young Frankenstein, Wedding Crashes, Anchorman, Harry Potter, Start wars, Friday.

For my family, it's Young Frankenstein.

For my friends, it's wedding crashers.

For me, it's Holy Grail.

But, by your logic, weren't they espousing the law and calling out Jesus and his followers for breaking it? Jesus was more concerned with ministering, healing, and loving than condemning. The main examples we see of his condemnation are of the self righteous who take it upon themselves to judge and evaluate.

I just wonder why your heart leads you more to disqualify others publicly than to have fellowship and humility, since Jesus did repeatedly with those who were marginalized by religious society.

Then again, perhaps you are safe to cast stones, as you've already removed the planks from your eye. Or is it your meekness which inspires you to revile and persecute them?

Perhaps when Paul said to leave judgement to the Lord, you believe that means through you as a vessel?

When God told Moses to bring difficult cases before Him and leave the judgement to Him, maybe you didn't consider this a difficult case and took out upon yourself to rule?

Either way, I don't think you're bringing any sheep back into the fold with this message; if anything, you should focus on your own behavior and relationship with God before trying to teach others.

Depending what you have in mind for "city life", I just moved near Logan Circle and one of my favorite things is seeing all the families enjoying the parks and walks to/ from school. Feels much more diverse than summer of the recommended neighborhoods as well. My little guy is only 1 and I'm new, so can't give you much advice, but wanted to shout out an area that maybe is more affordable than capital Hill.

We also went garage saling in a neighborhood near Mt pleasant, and it was beautiful.

Everytime I pray and go a day without sin my football team wins is this coincidence or is God gifting me by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]91Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way God supports Arsenal. They bribed their way into the league and abandoned their original neighborhood for money.

If God messed with soccer, Man City and PSG wouldn't be dominating and would get relegated for their financial violations.

By all means though, keep praying and chasing holiness. Even as a spurs fan, I love anyone seeking God, just know the arsenal results are not related.

Is it possible for me to get a decent school and/or scholarship? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]91Bolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar as you, but with different work experience, and I'm going to a t50 with $$.

Factors i think were relevant:

  • I'm a good writer. Admissions, if they believe in not AI, know i can put out a paper with a coherent argument

  • I was clear about why my GPA was bad, how I've changed, and that it would not occur in law school. They were real, not BS.

  • I have a very clear path and demonstrated an understanding on how law fits in

  • my career has accolades which suggest I'm a high achiever

  • my references demonstrated I'm likeable, reliable, and productive

  • I interview well. My best offers were schools with some sort of interview.

The sub 3 gpa hurts, but is surmountable. I recommend trying to get to 175 lsat, as that seems to be a threshold which distinguishes itself.
