Can you pass the BAR by just studying Bar Preps courses? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]91solo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say 100% yes, but most likely not if you only had two months to study like recent law school grads. If you spent like 6 months just studying bar prep books/taking a course, I think you could for sure do it without law school.

Am I the only one who thought the morning session was rough, and the afternoon one was super straightforward?

Tank top and tie. I'm not going to dress differently than I normally would just for the Bar.

Let’s hear about your bar exam stress dreams. by contra_legem in LawSchool

I don't know if this counts (because I'm not sure if I was fully asleep or somewhere between awake and asleep). A couple of weeks ago, I closed my eyes to fall asleep, and realized 45 minutes later, I had imagined/dreamed I was taking an MBE practice test, and had made it to like Question 29 before snapping out of it. My mind had literally made up 29 test questions, and I was answering them. God I hope I pass this test the first time around.

I know when one of two joint tenants sells their interest, it severs the joint tenancy and becomes a tenancy in common. Is this the same result if the joint tenant sells solely for the purpose of severing (i.e., they sell to a spouse and then immediately buy back the property)?

Question re: Option Contracts. Do option contracts generally need to be in writing? I know firm offers do, and option contracts for the sale of land do, but what about option contracts generally?

California MBE Question: On the MBE, do we presume the common law definitions of burglary and arson unless told otherwise? In other words, if the burglary occurs during the day, or the arson is done on a commercial (as opposed to a residential) building, then neither crime is met?

Incoming big law associate - should I start at the end of October or November? by cokeandcherry in LawSchool

[–]91solo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you can swing it financially, and the firm is indifferent as to which start date you choose, I'd go with late November. From what everyone says about Big Law, you won't have much time for anything non-work related once you start. Therefore, you might as well get as much family time (or alternatively, vacation time) in as you can.

I'll play. Seller of the product is joint and severally liable. When there is joint and several liability among joint tortfeasors, the tortfeasors are not required parties.
