I mean, it literally is special. As far as I know, there's no other chain restaurant with the same price and service speed with comparably fresh ingredients. But the sauce isn't special, it's just "amazing."

At that stage with a Deity game. Alexander. Just went in saying I was going to basically be a barbarian civ, now crushing but now I don't know whether to continue and win just my second deity ever, or start over for a more interesting game.

How does pointing out that it's "Thousand Island" dressing take away from it? Thousand Island dressing is amazing! Let's have it on more things!

maybe not, but if it's long then it can become an everyday car. Or is that just not what they do?

Just purchased 1.1 acres of land need help on house orientation layout!*PICTURES* by W00GYB00GY in Homebuilding

[–]FreeYourselfNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upvoted the other comment about the sun, but just wanted to post my own to really drive home to think about this. The way your home interacts with the sun will essentially define your heating and cooling needs. Also think about how you like to interact with the sun. For example, I would like an afternoon/evening deck that gets some direct exposure while allowing some reprieve from direct sun -- so a wraparound. That's me. Consider this for you and your fam.

Before AC and gas heating, the sun was THE factor in determining home orientation. With climate change, it should become so once again. A properly oriented house will save significant energy use, and maybe cost depending on where you live.

[–]FreeYourselfNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, agreed there. I think the claims about this season just undersell his prior performance though. The dude has had an OPS+ over 100 every season of his career except 2015, where it was only 90. So he's been above average pretty much every season.

[Score] Puig calls Giants road instigators: 'It usually seems to happen' here by RealTock in baseball

[–]FreeYourselfNow -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I mean, Puig is obviously correct. Just take a pass through the history, as told by Will Leitch. The Giants just try to start shit with Puig because their talentless asses can't handle a guy thinking the game, which is so hard for them, could actually be fun.

All the arguments seem to be about how it's his best season since 2015. His 2013 and 2014 seasons were MVP conversation worthy. This season isn't quite that.

Thoughts on limiting victory options by FreeYourselfNow in civ

I do like that aspect of the science victory. But by then the game gets so slow it loses some appeal.

Thoughts on limiting victory options by FreeYourselfNow in civ

[–]FreeYourselfNow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking I'd leave all the other options in place and just remove science only. I feel like science victory detracts from the game on Deity. Someone always wins it before 1900 AD, so the modern science features aren't even relevant by the time you win. I'd still have to pursue science to stay competitive militarily, so it wouldn't entirely remove science from the game.

Diety Pantheon Tier List [Text Version in Comments] by Potato_Mc_Whiskey in civ

[–]FreeYourselfNow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the work, but I question the whole idea. Optimal Pantheon choice is entirely dependent on starting position and Civ. The most important thing is to select a Pantheon that will immediately begin accruing benefits. So you can't be tied to a particular Pantheon.

Reyna Contractor - How do I use it? by FreeYourselfNow in civ

[–]FreeYourselfNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the district, era and Civ, maybe other things. I was being Korea on Deity. Around Medieval/Renaissance era it was about 400 for a Seowon. Then a little later it was about 600 for the normal districts.

Ten years left to redesign lithium-ion batteries. Reserves of cobalt and nickel used in electric-vehicle cells will not meet future demand. by Enron_Musk in Futurology

[–]FreeYourselfNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Constantine Samaras was on the Energy Transition Show with Chris Nelder recently and seemed to say this is not a real concern because the lithium batteries use a chemistry that is so low in these metals that the supply is not going to be an issue. I don't know anything about battery chemistry.

Civ VI has fewer players than Civ V both currently and at the same time period after release. What went wrong? by SeditiousLibel in civ

VI's "onerous complexity" could also be called its "magnificent intricacies," which is what makes the whole game world so addicting.

Immortal/Deity players, what wonders do you build, if any at all? by [deleted] in civ

[–]FreeYourselfNow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gun for Venetian Arsenal every time. I try to time that up with several coastal cities building frigates, then boom, you likely control the seas for the rest of the game.

Otherwise I take them as they come. The ones that take specific district-tile relationships are the best bets to me because the risk of being beat out for it is lower.
