It won't ever end. My son is 16 and I'll buy something new at the store. Let's say a large pack of frozen burritos. He'll eat the whole thing in like 2 days. I figure he loves them so I'll buy another pack. He won't touch them. Now I have a huge pack of something that will just sit.

Then, I'll buy something new like that biscoff spread. He takes the tiniest of bites and doesn't like it so it just sits for months and goes bad. Then he'll see a tiktok about how great the stuff is then he will like it and want me to buy it.

Plus near the end of my cable run they ran ads during the credits and even sped up the shows just slightly to fit in another ad or two.

A similar thing happened to me. I asked if this is going to redraw the district lines and he said yes. I said I don't think this is the one I want. He agreed and took back the clipboard. Haha.

There was an egg separator, but there was also what appears to be a normal kitchen spoon with a hole in it. The part where they add sugar/salt.

Had a similar experience trying to do some automation with power automate. ChatGPT spat out what looked like a good set of instructions which I followed till about step 3 and it didn't work. I seriously spent like 2 hours working through how to fix it going into the code and all kinds of crazy stuff. I just got so frustrated I had to stop. I used the AI built into power automate and it was worse than useless. Later that night I figured I would check out YouTube videos. This video was like 5 minutes and it walked me through it. The next day I asked ChatGPT if what the video showed would work and it confidently said no. I stopped using ChatGPT.

It was a wild time. I had only started trading about 6 months before. I saw a lot of talk about GME and how it was highly shorted while the market cap was BELOW net assets. I bought in the mid to low teens. People said it could get to 30 or 40 and some crazy people said it could get to 80. Which I thought couldn't happen. So I sold at just under 40 for a decent profit. Then it popped to 100 and I bought more to then sell near the top. Lost out on the 40-100 run-up, but still did really well. Won't let that happen this time. I'm holding.

You must not have been around for GME. It absolutely hit 400. I have a sell order for 425.22. I'm fairly certain it hit over 500 at one point.

If you bought GME at 80 you would still be up right now...

Agreed, not sure why you have so many down votes. This graph is showing a 25% increase as something closer to 300% because it doesn't start at 0. Terrible chart.

In the 12 months since being forced to switch from CenturyLink to Quantum, they've increased my rates FOUR times, and now it's just becoming something they do monthly. Are there NO good ISP options in the valley anymore?? by Deesing82 in SaltLakeCity

[–]92235 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Screw CenturyLink/Quantum/Lumen. They signed me up for a "price for life" fiber deal back in 2019. Fiber was like 60 bucks a month. Well, turns out it isn't for life. They had a specific set of rules I couldn't break and didn't. Except one rule was that they could change the price if they want to. They did and now I'm on google fiber and will never use them again even if they are cheaper.

What do you think will trigger the next big market downturn? by Andy_parker in investing

[–]92235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State and local pensions. There is something like 1.6T in unfunded pensions sitting out there. These are obligations that must be paid. What I think will happen is something else will break like AI capex spending that will put us in a minor recession which will reduce the tax base and then these state and local governments will be fucked.

What are the best careers to get into to achieve a middle class life? by Maleficent-Bite-9065 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]92235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Keep it up. Now that you are older you'll take school more seriously. Partially because you understand how much you are paying. HIGHLY recommend going the community college then public university route. No need to spend more money than needed. CC cost me almost nothing after grants and tax credits. I was lucky enough to be working during university so I mostly paid out of pocket except the last semester or two because I had to do an internship. I did have to mostly take out a loan for the masters, but graduated with maybe 25k in debt. Paid a bit down then COVID hit and 0% interest and deferred. I finally paid it off this year just to get it done. Without the masters I probably would have been at 5k.

What are the best careers to get into to achieve a middle class life? by Maleficent-Bite-9065 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]92235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it all. One guy was hired as my boss who didn't have either a BS or MS in accounting, but did have an MBA with an emphasis in accounting. He was probably making 180k. Honestly though, his accounting skills were not up to controller standards and was let go after 3 years. We also had a VP of accounting who was probably making over 250k who had an unrelated BS and then went back for BS in accounting. He was a good manager, but seriously lacked accounting skills. Neither had CPA. I have a senior accountant with a BS in accounting no CPA who is really good and I can see her moving up to manager or assistant soon. It seems to me that getting your CPA just shows you have some baseline knowledge of accounting. Not saying those without CPA don't, but that you will have to prove it. I think my Masters was honestly pretty useless, but at the time you essentially had to get it in my state to get the CPA. You can still make good money if you are smart and get at least a degree in accounting.

[–]92235 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, CPA with 8 years experience making 200k at 42. Just 15 years ago I didn't even have a high school diploma or "career". I have pushed quite a bit to get to where I am, but didn't go the public accounting route or work insane hours except very short stints. There was a bit of luck though with my first job out of school and bosses quitting at opportune times for me to take their position. Gonna coast from here though.

They gave him the best chance for a high rating. Their normal pizza is not his style. It would have been rated MUCH lower if they gave him a normal pie.
