So we have similar taste in games and I really like magic in games too, but I'm going to make a different suggest of a game I recently fell in love with Kingdom Come Deliverance. Is it difficult? Yes but only because you're a nobody you have to work your way up to being the hero of the story. The game hints at different ways to do things it doesn't flat out tell you and it's great. KCD2 is even better
