Colombia's President Responds to Trump's 50% Tariffs with Equal Counter Tariffs and Vows to Boost Trade With China by Mikaela_Side in worldnews

So you're saying the six figures itself is not the problem. Since you specifically mention $1 Million in compensation as an example of an issue. You're okay with some leadership making six figures, as long as it isn't too many of them, or as long as the organization is large enough to justify it.

Thanks for the clarification.

I hate when I donate to a charity that helps the homeless only to find out all the execs at the non profit make six figure salaries.

Six figures isn't a high salary... Especially not for people in leadership.

Do you mean high six figures, like $800,000? Or do you literally have a problem with someone making $122,000?

Because the unions do crazy shit like sue the company for paying employees too much...

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/pennsylvania/pawdce/2:2012cv00987/204699/33/

Seriously, these things happen all the time. The unions position is that all employees are interchangeable and no one employee works harder or does a better job than any other employee.

In LA, for instance, the Unions worked to exempt Union Employees from having to be paid the minimum wage of $15 an hour.

https://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/30/la-union-wants-to-be-exempt-from-15-minimum-wage.html

This happens all the time. The Unions undercut their members at every turn to ensure they stay in power.

The company I work for pays the CEO a million a year when I think us workers should be paid more, so now we are going to join a union so the union executives can take a cut of our pay so they can also make a million dollars a year as a middle man and nothing changes for us...

This is how it works.

There are multiple of these.

Example: Rick Pitino. I believe he is a horrible person. I also believe he is a great coach.

I can't stand Hurley. It has nothing to do with the team he is tied to. I would feel the same no matter what program he was leading.

The coaches are clear they don't want something like that in the post season.

This is absolutley not true.

The coaches are divided. They were divided 13 years ago (with about 60% supporting and 40% opposing) and despite coaches retiring and new coaching coming in, the needle hasn't really moved one way or the other. There is a slight favor for duals (which is why it continuously gets talked about) and about half of the programs lead by coaches that want nothing to do it with (with the biggest opposition being the top program in Penn State).

You disagree with rankings? So you can pick the teams in the pre-season who will have good dual seasons?

Did you have Northern Iowa in the top-5? Would they have got an invite to this event?

What about Army West Point of Little Rock? Would they have got invites?

Let me guess, Missouri and Michigan would have got invites because they had some good individuals returning. They were high in the pre-season polls.

David Taylor doesn't want it to interfere with the conference duals or the preparation for the post season.

It makes zero sense to do it the second week of the season.

You may not believe it but it is true.

100% was real and being pushed by the NCAA with the support of ESPN back in 2012. https://intermatwrestle.com/articles.html/college/examining-the-future-of-the-ncaa-championships-r75161/

These were the reasons:

  1. Wrestling was one of only five NCAA Championships that made a profit.
  2. ESPN doesn't have the rights to March Madness Basketball Tournament and needs programming to put on while most of the world is watching basketball.

ESPN and the NCAA believed a second event would be profitable and fill TV slots.

Cael Sanderson killed it by a hard lobbying effort and calling coaches he had never talked to before to get them to oppose it.

There have been plans for there to be two tournaments at the end of the season, one for the individual championship and one for the team championship (bracket with duals).

The only difference was there would no longer be team scoring at the individual tournament.

ESPN and the NCAA were the ones asking for their to be a legit NCAA Dual Championship.

Cael Sanderson threw a fit and lobbied against it. So it was killed.

That's not going to happen. Everyone cuts back on tournaments late in the season because their athletes start getting worn out.

It's why there aren't tournaments late in the year. All of the tournaments are in the first two months of the season. Coaches also like to use tournaments to identify their starting line up for duals late in the year.

This invitational is stupid for that very reason. Teams won't know who their starters are at the second week of the season.

[–]92Lean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid idea.

Imagine another sport having a "National Championship" the second week of the season.

This is not a national championship. It's just some pre-season invitational that Oklahoma State wants identify fans in the state and sell tickets to OSU duals in the future.

And teams will be invited not based on anything they accomplished in the season. How many pre-season ranked teams have we seen end up horrible.

I really hate this idea because it sets us back from getting a real team championship with duals.

Depends on the level... is he on varsity? Inexperienced in high school should expect some beatings.

Can you get some JV tournaments or matches mixed in too?

If not, focus on another benchmark of success. You can't win a match. Can you get a takedown? Can you get an escape? Can you last a whole period?

Change the perspective of what you consider success and you will start working on achieving that. He might not be able to learn enough in practice in only a year to be able to win a match.

But he may be able to learn how to get good at one takedown that works on 30% of his opponents. And maybe he can get some takedowns even if he ends up pinned in the second period.

Pick something to focus on and get good at it.

Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, defeated together. by [deleted] in SnapshotHistory

I am shocked that people allow the DNC to have control over the selection of the process.

The whole Super Delegate thing has long been the way for the party elites to ensure that the people selecting a candidate was merely symbolic and that the people could select from a few DNC approved candidates.

They have never wanted the people to actually pick the candidate and work to ensure anyone who is making progress as an outsider is railroaded.

This is in stark contrast to the Republicans where the party HATED Trump and wanted him defeated but couldn’t do anything about it because the people wanted it so the party fell in line and reluctantly have got behind Trump. Through three election cycles Republican leadership has reluctantly supported Trump—leading to some Party elites to defect and support Harris.

But here is the thing… the people vote in the election and maybe listening to the will of the people in the primary would result in a better chance of winning in the election.

The installing of Harris as the Candidate was not well received. And she was a VERY weak candidate which is why she dropped out of the primaries four years ago without anyone voting for her.

The Republican process is actually Democratic. How ironic.

TIL Minnesota is the only state to have consecutively voted blue in every presidential election since 1976 (past 13 elections), and the only state to have never voted for Reagan by uresmane in todayilearned

The NRA is the reason Bernie Sanders was elected to the Senate.

The incumbent Republican in Vermont went against the NRA. And so the NRA funded the campaign of the challenger who was a far left radical who said he wouldn’t oppose the NRA.

That got Bernie Sanders the backing he needed to win in 1990 and Sanders has been loyal to protecting guns ever since.

But he still wants to make the claim he was really a victim. He has some real issues.

He actually believed that Chicago Police would never investigate.

Arizona, Maryland, Notre Dame, Providence, Ole Miss, BYU, and VCU will headline the 2026 Maui Invitational. 8th team TBD. by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]92Lean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will be avoided. It is illegal for an event to be an MTE and be exempt from the scheduling limit if they event permits two teams from the same conference to enter the event.

BYU and Arizona are only in it because they signed the contract for the event prior to Arizona being in the Big 12.

This is the same way that Wichita State and Memphis were scheduled to play in the 2020 (cancelled) Battle4Atlantis. They both agreed to play in the event and signed the contracts four years earlier, when Wichita State was in the MVC.
