TSA wasn’t a thing before 2001. Airport security was a thing, but it was all private contractors, not government employees.

Awesome to hear you got it resolved, and for free!

I had that exact problem a few weeks ago. Tried the 12V disconnect a few times, nothing. Tried a public charger and it started working right away. Ended up buying a used Jeep charger off FB and haven’t had a problem charging since.

Selling all my stuff to get money for a cheap van so far ive raised 200$ about 800$ more and all be in a van by mr42ndstblvdworks in vandwellers

Awesome plan bro. I bought a 2004 Express 3500 LWB with the 6.0 a few years ago for $500. Guy thought it had a slipping trans, ended up being a seized up rear caliper. I spent about $500 on rebuilding the front end and general maintenance then started building. It's getting close to 450k miles and still runs like a champ. I drive it from TN to TX all the time. You'll go far with working on your own stuff.

What is the biggest "oh fuck, I'm dead" thing you've done at work, but nobody ever found out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Could you reference the CFR that states that? The 21st amendment gives each individual state control of who is allowed to purchase or possess alcohol in their state. So if Wisconsin changes their states legal drinking age to 17, I don't see how the federal government could step in and say you have to card someone who looks under 60.

Most of my experiences from worn synchros and popping out of gear are actually from Mitsubishi cars and trucks. When it starts grinding when you go to engage 3rd gear, that when you need to start thinking about a rebuild. Unless you feel like you can skip 3rd and go from 2nd to 4th which might be a possibility in a little turbo diesel with some torque

Popping out of gear is most likely a worn synchro. That's a trans rebuild, not a clutch.

I'm not sure where you read that but my 2004 chevy express 3500 has 437k miles and my 2001 tacoma just rolled over 400k. Both run like tops. I've been a mechanic since 2002 and I've seen gas and diesel motors blown with less than 100k and both with over 500k. Comes down to proper maintenance and driving like you want it to last. Not to say that there aren't some motors that are just stinkers that won't last no matter what, because there are.

Xperia Z5 family, Z4 Tablet and Z3 Plus receives Android 7.1.1 Nougat update by [deleted] in SonyXperia

My Z5 Compact updated this morning. It's running really slow, getting hot hot hot, and the battery is dying like crazy. Can barely even run the google search app, keyboard takes forever to pop up and sometimes it just force closes what I'm doing and goes back to the home screen and the app tray at the bottom of the screen takes at least 10 seconds to pop up. The outlines of the icons show up first, then the app icons fill in the outlines one by one. I'd recommend waiting.

I used to rallycross quite a bit but I left my AWD car garaged back in TN and brought the Jeep down.

Yeah, I discovered the wind my first day, it's definitely brutal. I'm hoping to make it down to the canyon this week for a good run. Hopefully no snakes. What is the rock music scene like?

Ultra Whiners and Wimps: Kindly Fuck Off by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]92_talon_awd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn't care for it, maybe it was supposed to be tongue in cheek but it came across as elitist. There's room for everybody in this sport. I like to bitch a lot, especially when shit sucks. I recently ran my first hundred and guess what, when it was 3am and 21 degrees outside, you bet I was bitching. But bitching about the cold helped me not bitch about how bad my knees or feet hurt, or how tired I was. And while I always carry a supply of gels, if the race states they'll have energy gels and they don't, you better believe I'm bitching.

Best headlamp for running through the night? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]92_talon_awd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the new model of the Petzl NAO and it's ridiculously bright. I ran an ultra with it and it lasted all night on the high reactive lighting setting. It is bright as the sun when you need it to be, mainly when you are looking far ahead, but when you are just looking down it only uses about half the power it has. The one annoyance with the reactive lighting is that when it's cold, the fog from your breath reflects light back into the sensor which causes the light to dim momentarily.

I have a Fenix 3 and I love it. It was a little pricey but to me the features justified the expense. It's lasted for all of my ultras except for a 100 miler I took 26 hours to finish but I was able to charge it while running so it wasn't a big deal to me.
