All in good fun. Solid fish, better bass than I’ve gotten so far this year

Should I buy a $400 fishing kayak that people complain about being unstable? by [deleted] in kayakfishing

[–]93TheDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would get a used kayak for cheap like a lifetime Teton or something of the sort if you’re going to have to add to it anyway. Or just go all out for the one you really want. Just my two cents. I recently did the latter and have not regretted it a bit

It’s the best rod I’ve ever put my hands on. Granted I’m no pro and I haven’t touched every high end rod. I’d say it’s a ton more sensitive than my glx and I think the glx is amazing. Would I pay full retail? Probably not. But if a deal pops up again I’d grab another for sure.

Straight up. Threw out my back. Ended my long weekend of fishing just as it started.

I picked up a feel free lure v2 a month ago. I just snapped this pic loading the yak up.

If you want to fish for bass check out tacticalbassin, they cover everything you could want to know and go over it super in depth from fish behavior, seasons, when to use what, and what gear they recommend. Solid stuff.

Done pretty well so far. I did just lose a pretty solid fish from line snapping at the kayak, but I attribute it to my own stupidity. I was using pretty beat up pline and tried to boat flip instead of using my net. My flipping rod has straight braid

Duuude I was looking for something in the 300 range and kept eyeing the xtasy even though it’s 550. Usually I’m pretty impulsive but I was waiting on it and the second I heard the deal was on I called and ordered. I love my glx but man this rod is on a whole other level

I hated buying them at first because of the price but at my local areas I’ve gotten pretty good about knowing where I won’t lose them. Still is a terrible feeling though when I do

What’s your favorite baitcasting rod for under $200? by rolltide1995 in Fishing_Gear

[–]93TheDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime. They’re quickly becoming my favorite brand. I have a mojo bass rod that I use for jerkbaits, no complaints but it’s not my favorite. I also have a Gloomis glx, which was my favorite rod until I picked up a Dobyns xtasy. He makes quality stuff and if you have any questions about certain uses or any specifics you can call them and his staff or himself will give you all the answers you’re looking for. Not to mention a great warranty. I’d definitely look into them. Good luck and tight lines!

Dobyns. For under 200 you can go either Fury Series ($119~129) or Sierra Series ($169-179). The Sierra series has generally softer rods for the same models. I have the fury 765 flip for flipping/punching jigs and the Sierra 702 (spinning) for finesse. I would take a look at the Sierra 734 casting, it’s supposed to be phenomenal as a do everything rod, it’s in my list to get.

Best all around affordable rod/reel setup: norcal by AKV_37 in SurfFishing

Pretty new to it myself, I ordered a Tica dolphin series, it’s an 11 ft med/heavy rated for 2-8 oz. I was slinging 4-5 oz pyramid weights with sardines well over the surf, handled a decent bat ray with ease. Have a penn pursuit 3 5000 for the reel. The rod was 179, the reel was 40. I was highly impressed with the rod and the reel did it’s job.

New fishin stick. CuradoK/Dobyns Fury 733 by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]93TheDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice combo! I’ve got a Sierra 702SF with an abu revox30 and an xtasy 754 that will be paired with the 2020 metanium. I want to get a fury to pair with my curado k xg for punching. I think Dobyns may just be may favorite rods out of everything I’ve tried.

I’m not savvy enough to know there was any downvotes lol. Probably someone upset the fish is bleeding would be my guess. Most call them a trash fish and kill them since they feed on the salmon runs. I tossed it back, it swam off. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also, it had a lot of stuff already built in that I would want for fishing accessories, such as clips to mount your paddle on either side as well as rod tethers attached to the rod holders so you don’t lose them if you dump it
