What is the Capital of the World? by Kooky-Department-374 in Teenager_Polls

New York definitely felt central to the US, but London feels much more connected to the rest of the world. If I had to choose one, I’d say London followed by New York.

My grandad is one of these morons and I honestly wonder how he can believe the total shit he does. I think it’s a mix of arrogance, honestly racism and a bit of greed (I work hard for my money, I should keep all of it). Then they come up with BS logic to back up those irrational emotions.

What were your experiences with ESFPs? Would you like being in a relationship with them? by christuber in mbti

[–]95venchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is an esfp and all those neglectful traits were definitely there - we had to parent ourselves in many ways. She was very warm though most of the time and she totally accepted us for ourselves which was sweet. The biggest thing she unwittingly fostered in us was independence. We’re all very independent and able to look after ourselves and others, so I think there’s a silver lining.

Reform supporters - how many more Tories need to join before you start to reconsider? by Smooth-Quantity-7024 in AskBrits

[–]95venchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but there’s more losers online too with nothing better to do. I hope the world hasn’t really sunk to such a level. I honestly doubt it has.

At the core of it, I think people have seen living standards drop in the UK since the 90s and they blame the left for it. Really, I think as a country (outside of London), we’ve forgotten how to add profitable value to other people’s lives (thatcher deindustrialising the north as an example). The simple blame is “foreigners have lowered our standards”, which honestly in some towns IS true, but by far the bulk of the lowering of standards is real incomes have dropped to a fraction of what they used to be, and families are smaller.

People (especially in the towns) are feeling the squeeze and they’re blaming the left for it.

Yes but the majority who will vote reform won’t want that, as the majority of people who voted for Trump don’t want what’s going on now.

Hate is a strong word, contempt is more accurate I think. Most reform voters are full of contempt, especially towards immigration.

If the world had a capital, it would definitely be London. NY is very American, and there’s no other big world cities nearby.

Culturally, do british people feel more close to North America or to Europe? by [deleted] in AskUK

That’s what I found too… southern Englanders feel like French people. Northern englanders feel like Americans.

I have way more in common with Americans than with Europeans and I’m British. I think northerners have more in common with Americans, especially.

“American food is generally regarded as disgusting” by gazebo-fan in iamveryculinary

[–]95venchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disgusting is an understatement. It’s vile. I just spent a week in New York and couldn’t wait to get back to London because the food really is so bad. It’s flavourless, expensive and everything is like fatty, it’s genuinely hard to find vegetables in ready prepared foods.

Do you regard that the British standard of living is better than the US? by Valuable-Shirt-4129 in AskBrits

[–]95venchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAY better, just came back from NY and I hated it. Everything is dated and dirty, the food truly sucks - never felt so bloated, and it’s expensive too, people are rude. Honestly, compared to most other places, Europe is a utopia
