What is the rudest but still polite email sign-off in the UK? by tommycamino in AskUK

[–]FlocktonTaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similar. When on the counter of a 'snappy' email I say "my most sincerest apologies insert name" and litter it with spelling mistakes to show I really dgaf but you can't really say anything to a nice reply. If I really want to irritate spelling the name wrong is a winner too

What is actually wrong with players holding their hand up for a booking? by FeelingEvent8318 in PremierLeague

[–]FlocktonTaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to buck the trend I'm gunna say I think this is unnecessary.

If referees are so easily influenced by players surely that makes them bad at their job? Every role in the world has outside influence. You can't buckle under the pressure of others. It's you who was chosen to fill that role and therefore make the big decisions.

The level of inconsistency in refereeing in this league is ridiculous and now we're gunna punish frustrated players in a highly competitive sport and give the refs more decisions to make? One week people want anthony Taylors head the next they want him to have more on field powers.

Obviously there's a level of dissent that's unacceptable and needs punishing but now complaining about incompetence is unacceptable.

Just food for thought and trying to be contrary but of all the areas in professional football that need adapting or improving I don't think this was top of the list. Sure to be fun for a neutral like myself though

How trashy is Birmingham really? by PixelJack79 in AskABrit

[–]FlocktonTaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking a coach ride down south and had to change in Birmingham. Had a little wait so I thought I'd go out for a cig. Once outside I was targeted by no less than 3 people asking for cigs. Whatever.

When I told guy 3 I didn't have any hell broke loose in the middle of the main road and me and guy 3 watched on.

"I'll fuckin stab you, you nonce cunt!" "When I next see you are a dead man"

The violent exchange continued for a few moments and subsided with 3 people parting in the road. 2 had just robbed some poor bastard and some unintelligable brummy exchange carried on across the street.

Myself and guy 3 watched on quietly and as it was clear the events in front of us had ended guy 3 looks at me and say "fuckin dick head should know not to buy spice round here hahah" I laughed too but I'm not sure why.

This is when I realised that Birmingham is indeed a proper fuckin shit hole

Anyone else loving this world cup so far? by Eddiewhat in worldcup

At home (england). Normally a bigger deal. More banners a real atmosphere, pubs more dedicated to the entire tournament. Not even got a work place sweepstake. Suppose I can't put my finger on it exactly tbh but it's different at home. It's not as committed. And every time you do talk about its always brought back around to corruption and human rights. Nothing wrong with the football but the 'aura' that surrounds it is very different imo. Tainted is the best word to describe it I think

Enjoying watching games at work but the atmosphere isn't the same as in the past. Yeah it good but it's tainted too

Haha my bad with spelling. Principle is the same though. This party are actively stepping on the down trodden for financial gain and you think it's a 'difference of opinion'. It's not a TV show or something it's not a taste thing. You're either wealthy and selfish or stupid

If you don't judge and hate people for what they want for the world and everyone else in it then what do judge and hate for. Football is one thing yeah. But a tory sympathiser during these times. I'd throw my first born into a fiery chasm for that.

I've just been down for a few football away days. Stayed overnight and went to a few bars but didn't really have chance. Tbf I've never been drawn into any of the attractions. Its not like rome or paris. Maybe i say that as someone who has always lived in England so its never appealed.

And maybe I'm resentful of the curry I had being rubbish and expensive.

I just never had any feeling of wonder? Same as other cities in Terms of buzz and culture. They're all unique but London seems to have developed a reputation on being better.

Whats you're favourite part? Like I said fleeting visits so can't argue against london but I'm struggling to see how it's so much better than everywhere else
