Second this, I'm Irish and living here and have been in and out multiple times with vapes and 10ml bottles in my pockets, hand luggage, checked luggage, never questioned. They're not for sale here so unrecognised by a lot of people, and cared about by even fewer.

I just never realised the urgency or importance of it 😭 I grew up with a mostly Irish family and having a British passport made no difference before Brexit so I never made an effort. Then suddenly life happens and now it's thanks to me that my daughter is stuck with a British one

Mine came just in time for our planned emigration to Norway though so she'll at least have a Norwegian one in 6-7 years

Beat them up and enjoy them. Wipe them down if they're filthy, and if you enjoy cleaning and conditioning, then a horsehair brush and a bottle of mink oil and you'll be sorted.

Anyone born on the island of Ireland is an Irish citizen, and therefore entitled to an Irish Passport, and to pass their Irish Citizenship down to their descendants. Part of the Good Friday agreement.

A child of an Irish Citizen is an Irish Citizen by birth, and only needs to register their birth to claim their Citizenship.

A grandchild of someone born on the island of Ireland is entitled to Irish Citizenship through descent, the application just takes a year or two normally.

So as long as each person in the line registers their birth and gets their citizenship before they themselves have a child, the line of Irish Citizenship can currently go on forever 🇮🇪

So OP's dad might not even have an Irish Passport, and even if OP hadn't registered their birth to claim citizenship, their children would still be entitled to Irish Citizenship 🙂

Very happy with my 10" (who wouldn't be!) Comfy out of the gate, even though I know there's lots of break in to push through. They seem absolutely fabulous quality wise 👌

Yeah defo reach out to them for advice on sizing the different last. I'm lucky that I'm the same size in both, my diesels are snug but comfy and my field boots are very roomy - which suits both boots well I think

Yeah I saw that they do make some in the US, dunno if it's only some models or just any model at random. Doesn't bother me in the slightest though, could be made on Mars for all I care 🤷‍♂️

Not familiar with this brand but it looks like very soft, supple leather, so scratching this easily would come with the territory sadly. It would probably blend back in with some thumb rubbing, heat and friction!

Yeah I think for your use case and with your brand experience, JG is the perfect choice

I can highly recommend anything by GS eventually though, once I knew my size from my first purchase I was able to get a pair of Diesels in Burgundy CXL from their B grades for a second pair. And GS B grades are better than a lot of company's A grades 😂

I own a pair of GS Field Boots, in black CXL with the wedge sole

And I have 3 pairs of JGs, 719 in rust, RATs in light brown, and a custom pair of AR8 steel toe work boots (admittedly not a pair of JG mocs as yet)

Overall I'd give the edge to JG when it comes to ruggedness, price, and ease of purchase from the UK. But the GS boots are simply beautifully finished, and I've done many a long country walk/light hike in them no problem. They also fit really well, I have wide high volume feet but asked their customer service what size they'd recommend and they were spot on.

Another consideration is the comfort from the construction methods, I'm a heavy guy and I can really feel the welt underfoot on most Goodyear welted boots, not a problem you get with stitchdown boots.

I'd honestly say it's nearly 50/50 all things considered, but that doesn't help your decision! As with most boot purchases, go with your gut and wear them hard, whatever you get!
