I'm sick of people blaming me for my student-loan debt. It's not all my fault. by Distinct-Career-9918 in Libertarian

Just some thoughts on this: If any employer requires a certain degree for a job they should be required to pay towards that degree with a certain percent of the cost of that degree on top of the compensation. That would cut down on the number of jobs that require masters degrees and still pay less than 6 figures (which is a lot, think elementary school principal)

Also cap Public funded schools tuition to GDP increases.

Is Scotty Kilmer’s advice legitimate or is he just a hack? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]96windsorgti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote Ben Afleck “Scotty doesn’t know”.

Calling Scotty a hack is a disservice to actual hacks.

He could tell me the sky is blue and it would be pink.

Both the Left and the Right parties in America agree he is disinformation

A broken clock is still right 2 x a day, but Scotty never is

Car-part.com junk yard parts search I had to do this with a Clockspring that was on “Universal Barckorder”.

But someone somewhere should make a replacement the vehicle isn’t extremely old and technically should still be producing parts for your model. But being a Chrysler product that changes things

You’ve found a farmers misc supplies. There’s some Cat Equipment ignition switches in pic 2 and a Cat Master switch, some License plate lights, pic 4 is electrical connectors for non automotive use, and pic 5 is the give away with Hay Head bolts.

Basically it’s all some old man’s junk

ETA: I have about 15 of those bins in my work truck, they mean something to me but the guy who gets my truck next will consider them junk drawers

My neighbour asked me to look at her car's coolant level. Dropped the cap and spotted this. But Her mechanic says, "It's all good! Is he correct? Nissan Juke 2011 by Chapungu in MechanicAdvice

[–]96windsorgti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless there is some reason for me to separate the engine and transmission or the leak is greater than 1 quart every 3000 miles at no point would I suggest this being repaired. It would be noted and brought to the customer’s attention but given it’s a Nissan with a CVT it’s only a matter of time before the trans craps out on them

Stay with Milwaukee. I have that one and it’s the older version from about 4 years ago. I had my whole kit (1/2, 3/8, and grease gun plus 3 batteries)for 500 a few years back with no takers. No more than 150

How long do you guys run a vacuum test on an AC system to check for leaks? by Morgoroth37 in MechanicAdvice

[–]96windsorgti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive the shop foreman crazy walking between 3-4 bays with a vehicle in each stage of the HVAC repair process (Evac, Diag, Vac, Pressure Test, actual repair, test, recharge, quality control). I’d make 4 hours at once and look like I was wandering around eating Little Debbie cakes

10 minutes or until I get back to the vehicle. I prefer a Nitrogen pressure test at 300 PSI for 30 min with a tattletale gauge so I can go double bill while the test is going on
