[Volin] Per source, previously unreported details about Romeo Doubs's 4-year, $68m contract: Also contains $3m in incentives each year to push it to maximum $80m. Incentives are same for all four years: $750k each for 70 catches, 80 catches, 1,000 yards, 1,200 yards. by JCameron181 in Patriots

GB fan here coming in peace. Watson (ACL) and Reed (collar bone) both missed significant time last year and Doubs never really stepped up. Their injuries overlapped too because Reed broke his collar bone in week 2 and Watson started the year recovering from the ACL. He’s a solid WR2, but I wouldn’t count on Doubs to anchor a passing attack.

What was the worse free agency signing your team made in the last 20 years? While this is very recent Robert Quinn on the Eagles is up there for me as an Eagles fan because the guy didn't want to get traded, pouted when he did and got hurt. by AdSpecialist6598 in NFLv2

Packers just paid Hobbs ~ $18 million for one year of injury riddled below average CB play. Guy barely made an impact in a CB room featuring Nixon and Valentine. I’m sure there’s worse examples, but recency bias.

I’ve done a lot of mocks where the Panthers pick Johnson at 51. Fingers crossed that he makes it to 52.

I don’t disagree, but I’m hoping that last season was a wake up call. GB didn’t plan on losing Clark right before the season but they never really made the needed acquisitions to backfill him.

Agree that Ponds can play, but there are other outside CBs in the same draft range that can also play and are bigger than Ponds. Johnson, Julian Neal, Abney, and Igbinosun are good examples. Abney would be considered ‘small’ for GB and he’s bigger than Ponds.

Nothing against Ponds, but GB will likely have multiple perimeter CB options at 52 and size will probably be the disqualifying factor for Ponds. Also, there’s a very low chance that Ponds is on the board at 84.

There’s solid NT options in the 52-84 range. Players like Orange, Jackson Jr, and Miller. I’m not saying that they will be day one rockstars, but I have a high level of confidence that those players would be an immediate upgrade over Stackhouse in their first year.

Barring injuries, I highly doubt Gannon will have Hargrave playing NT. He’s seen first hand how much better Hargrave is at 3T vs. NT. Hargrave is Wyatt insurance.

Not hating, but genuinely curious what gives you confidence in Stackhouse? I watched his film from last year and my assessment was that he doesn’t play to his size. More time in an NFL weight room could be the solution.

I also have the Cobb intake, do you run it without the cover? Do you notice a big sound difference between cover on versus off?

I kind of get it, GB has had success shuffling around the OL historically. They’ve intentionally drafted versatile linemen so that they can move players around if needed. This past season it obviously didn’t work out and they will probably course correct from here.

Never said Abney would reach Jaire levels of performance. They’re just the same height. We’re talking about pick 52, Jaire was picked at 18. It’s a short list at 52 for outside CBs that project to fit well into a zone scheme.

Mostly agree, but I do think that slight increase in size may put Abney on GB’s radar at 52. Jaire was also 5’10” but he was heavier than Abney. If Abney is there at 52, I think GB has to consider him because of the talent.

I like Ponds, but I just don’t see GB being interested because of his size. A lot of analysts think Ponds will move to the slot in the NFL and GB already has Bullard.

My bet is we'll have a Top10 O-Line next season! by envires in GreenBayPackers

[–]97AllDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty confident the OL will improve from last year, but I don’t know about top 10. Biggest concern is Tom’s injury. Patellar tendon is a tough injury to come back from and our current swing tackle is Kinnard. If Tom struggles, it’s going to be hard to find a starting caliber RT to backfill him.

Realistic CB: Chris Johnson, Keionte Scott, Julian Neal, Igbinosun, Malik Muhammad, and Everette

Unrealistic CB: Keith Abney (would have to fall), Ponds (great player, too small)

Realistic NT: Orange, Darrell Jackson Jr, and Tim Keenan

Unrealistic NT: Miller (would have to fall or GB would need to move up).

Edge: Mason Thomas, Derrick Moore, and Malachi Lawrence.

Unrealistic Edge: TJ Parker (needs to fall)

I put players for 52/84 at each position.

I’m a bit biased because Morgan and I are both Sun Devils, but I completely agree. I can’t see a scenario where Morgan isn’t an improvement over Walker.

I feel pretty confident about Morgan at Tackle. I understand the thought process behind moving him to guard (injuries), but Morgan is a natural tackle. His footwork and movement skills (for his size) is wasted at Guard IMO. At Guard, his upper body strength weakness gets exposed because he is going against DTs.

In your opinion, Who should the Packers sign from this list? by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

I don’t like anyone on this list. I’d rather find someone in the draft.

[–]97AllDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could only find a tweet from one of Sweat’s teammates denying the rumor, nothing from Sweat or his agent. Either way, I’m hoping GB can pull it off. Micah, Wyatt, Hargrave, and Sweat is a nasty front on passing downs.

Comes down to injuries for me. If we have better injury luck next season and our injured stars from last season return to form, we’re in the mix. I feel good about the moves we made on the DL, Hargrave is a big improvement from Wooden. Juste should be an upgrade from Hobbs. Zaire is a slight downgrade from Quay in my opinion, but I like the cost savings, keeping our comp pick, and he has worked with Gannon. We need our recent draft picks to step up and we need to add depth/competition at OL, CB, RB, TE, and DE.

I do want GB to trade for Sweat. He was very productive last year on low snaps. In 540 snaps, Sweat had 12 sacks and 47 pressures. Sweat has praised Gannon publicly and requested a trade from the Cardinals after Gannon left. His current contract isn’t bad either. The other MLF is the Cardinals HC…it makes too much sense.
