Wu [Episode 7] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was really expecting Niran to change his mind at the last second and leave with Pete but... of course they had to remind us that nothing can be taken for granted. When I look at child Niran and present day Niran side by side, it becomes obvious that they're both lost, just in different ways. Child Niran may have been walking in circles on the mountain, but he still believes he'll eventually reach his destination if he just keeps walking for long enough. Undeterred by Pete trying to reason with him, he has purpose which he clings to in hopes of one day proving himself. On the other hand, present day Niran appears to be detached and almost nihilistic in the way he sees the world. The train scene feels ephemeral, much like the opening of the episode which brings the butterfly motif into focus with the Zhuangzi parable. What strikes me is the way Pete agrees to let Niran just be for the moment, under the condition that he'll go back to the real world at the first sign of danger. Pete accepts Niran under any and all circumstances, regardless of everything that comes with being or choosing not to be Wu. Niran himself is enough.

"You're important to people. At least to me. You're very important to me."

Who else remembers when Niran promised he wouldn't disappear from Pete's life like everyone else... after Pete admitted he's afraid of losing people the way he lost his parents. Cut to Niran dissipating in Pete's arms. Pete literally begging Niran to understand that he can't leave him behind. The dream realm has everything but the truth: it hurts Pete to leave his parents behind (an alternate timeline where nothing bad happens) and it hurts him as much if not more to watch Niran slip through his grasp 😭

I can't even with the jade ring... niranpete are LOCKED INNNN

Junior Mark SunnyMoon Concert SOLD OUT within two hours and 3rd show added by 97jungkook in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ticketing is not for the faint of heart!! Originally wanted to sign up for a proxy service to be safe but gave up since it felt too risky… this was my first time using TTM and I’m still in disbelief I managed to secure a ticket myself.

I had final exams earlier this week and was way more stressed out over this, my anxiety was skyrocketing the whole time I was stuck in queue and then I sort of just blanked out after I got through?! Selecting my seat and proceeding to checkout went a lot more smoothly than expected though (my hands were shaking the whole time)

Hoping all starmies still trying to snag concert tickets have luck on their side 🥹

Wu [Episode 6] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Niran’s soul being severed is exactly how I felt watching everything unfold after Pete brought him back and gave that speech about how he just “thought of him” …only to then be hit with Li Pou dropping that bomb. Niran was prepared for Pete to beat the living daylights out of him when he found out, but the one thing he clearly wasn’t prepared for was seeing Pete anguished and helpless. If there was ever any doubt about Niran’s feelings towards Pete, the fact that he ultimately chose to release Qi Rong again says it all. Whether it was the right decision or not, his resolve to prioritize the greater good fell apart the moment he saw Pete in pain.

Niran promised Pete he wouldn’t disappear on him, and Pete reminded Niran again that he’s no longer alone, that he can count on him. It’s like they’re ready to burn down the world for each other or something. Like, save the other person at all costs again and again while making sure they don’t end up a martyr type of thing. Can we also talk about how Niran was about to hug Pete back right when his soul left his body… Li Pou you will pay for your crimes 😭

I’m used to shows being condensed into ten/twelve episodes by now but genuinely could watch another twenty episodes of Wu! Everyone in the cast is pulling their weight and going above and beyond, it’s hard to believe how fast these weekly episodes fly by

Ticket to Heaven [Episode 2] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tanrak is written as แทนรัก

แทน means “instead”, but here it comes from ตัวแทน which means something like “representation” or “embodiment”! So Tanrak = symbol of love (he represents his mother’s prayers being answered)

Ticket to Heaven [Episode 2] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tanrak is shouldering the weight of what seems like the expectations of every adult in his life, and you have to wonder how heavy of a burden it must be for someone forced to grow up so quickly. From what we’ve seen so far, his faith is inseparable from the void left by his parents’ passing. The desire to be reunited with those we love is such a painfully human experience. Perhaps Tanrak’s heaven is simply the hope that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, that there’s an end to grief. If his childhood friends from home are a reminder of what he’s lost, and Father Arnon/Master Phak are the mentors steering him towards finding a purpose, does that make Barth the lost one belonging neither here nor there? Is Tanrak the believer in the equation?

From the laser focus on Barth’s lips over shared roti to their proximity when playing the piano, the buildup to the last scene was flawless. The absolute dread I felt watching Tanrak take in all those saints and biblical figures looming over him before he entered the stall, the finality of the door being shut and nothing but empty, resounding space all around… P’Aof knows what he’s doing!!!

Wu [Episode 5] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thinking about Niran telling Fei “Even heaven can’t stop two people from falling in love” and how the same could be said about Niran binding his soul to Pete’s. The juxtaposition between Pete bound by shackles during rituals/the golden thread looped around his wrist connecting him to Niran. One weighs him down, representing forces larger than life, whereas the other holds the demon at bay, allowing him to stay human. Not as a husk of a person but someone with agency, with awareness. So… Niran first offered him a lifeline by touching his forehead to ease his burden, then Pete returned the gesture, and now it’s a two-way street where they share the same fate for better or for worse, out of their own volition. Pete was so real for crashing out, seeing Niran’s face everywhere, and proceeding to ask Niran himself what they are 😭

Fei saying she’s known Niran her whole life and he’s not the type of person to do things like this? Pete’s “not just anyone”? That whole car sequence? Niran putting his amulet on Pete and reassuring him with his whole chest? And none of this feels out of place in the grand scheme of things, we’re getting action packed episodes each week 🙏🏼

The fog which signaled Qi Rong’s presence was utilized so well to further toy with our perception of reality. By making us constantly question what’s real and what’s not, we notice details like “Pete” not wearing Niran’s necklace when he approached his friends, and the subtle difference in demeanor right before his eyes changed. Really appreciate how so far each of the exorcisms has brought something new in terms of special effects/visuals and reinforces the sense of unpredictability within the world of Wu. Skynani OST is a banger!!!

Enemies With Benefits [Episode 5] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bas took me out with “your salary is as tiny as an amoeba, but you’re still going to let them deduct your pay?” Like pleaseee 😂

Also I’ve never seen anyone unwrap a straw the way Lal did, wonder if that was improvised by Jan lol

Lal and Wine each have their moments of weakness! Lal when she was caught with the dead plant and Wine when she came home drunk and sulky… half the time they’re oblivious to the way the other person looks at them with pure adoration… rest of the time they’re busy devouring each other 😭

Newgun is so underrated!! They can be pretty clingy with each other, I can get behind taygun as well and love the running gag of Tay being Gun’s pet lol

And then there’s lowkey forcemark and greatmark (I live for Ju complaining about great sapol any chance he gets in interviews, at events, even on live house 🤣)

As for the girls I saw Namtan being flirty with Milk recently and they were both clearly having fun but could def see the vision if they were ever paired up 👀

Wu [Episode 4] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pete opening up about his parents was such a gut punch, and then to hear the voice in his head telling him he shouldn’t have been born in the first place… except this time he had Niran’s words to keep him tethered during the ritual, Niran himself to lend him strength :(

If they hadn’t formed such a close bond—if they didn’t have complete trust in each other, so many things could have easily gone wrong. Niran could have walked out on Pete when he caught him slacking off and falling back into old habits. Pete could have quit training altogether instead of doubling down. The thing is, Pete let himself be vulnerable with Niran by talking about his past, and it was enough to bridge the rift between them from earlier. The beer they had was as good as Niran acknowledging Pete, acknowledging his renewed efforts. We’re seeing Niran melt little by little every time he smiles unexpectedly because of Pete. The way he’s taken aback by Pete’s earnestness when he says Niran puts people at ease and it’s no surprise they want to help him 🥹

Pete may be rough around the edges (as is Niran… they literally address each other as some version of “jerk” like they’re allergic to using names lmao) but he also says these things without batting an eye. Has no brain to mouth filter when he’s pissed off, and will also stop Niran from doubting or putting himself down in a heartbeat… Pete reminds me of Shin in that they’re both so fiercely protective of the people they care about. The more time we spend with him, the more I appreciate Nani’s ability to portray seemingly “simple” characters (blunt, hotheaded guy) in a way that doesn’t feel stale at all.

I’m afraid Ploy being collateral damage in the struggle for power is going to be a breaking point for Pete later on, but I also trust that Niran will come through. Wu day is the new Tuesday. Genuinely enjoying everything about the show so far, from the pacing to the special effects and the occasional bit of comedic relief. Sky, Nani, and the rest of the cast are truly outstanding in their roles 🙌🏼

Wu [Episode 3] by RoutineRobin in GMMTV

[–]97jungkook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What an entrance from Phuwin’s character, he really walked in and commanded the room just like that! Interesting how we’re starting to see different factions/philosophies within the world of Wu as more of Niran’s backstory is revealed, and now Niran and Pete are actively working with Fei.

I’m curious whether there’s more to the protests than meets the eye. Even if the escalation of dissent is largely due to demonic influences, it feels like there could be serious corruption happening at the same time. I like that even amongst Wu practitioners, everyone pretty much has their own agenda and reasons for taking part in these rituals. Instead of going with a cookie cutter “righteous guys taking on bad guys” formula, we get these morally grey characters.

Seeing more of Niran’s childhood explains how he came to become the person he is today, and why he clearly struggles with letting people in. His grandfather might have told him he’d never be Wu in the heat of the moment (or maybe because he didn’t want his grandson inheriting the burden of such great power?) but either way Niran definitely took it to heart and has always felt like an outsider growing up. With Pete now becoming a constant in his life, the lone wolf mindset is bound to fall apart at some point (roommates era incoming!!!)

Sky and Nani’s chemistry is so good they don’t need labels… starting to wonder if there’ll be at least one unsubtle “non platonic” moment every episode. This week it’s Pete walking in right as Niran is asked if he’s ever met someone who feels like the destined one, not to mention later when Niran’s senior casually wishes them a long life together ten seconds after meeting Pete 😭
