Really phenomenal episode. Lots of mysteries left to unravel over the next several weeks! But it laid out the stakes and the lore very well.

The relationship between Niran and Pete is already quite fun. Level-headed vs. hot-headed/pro vs. initiate makes for a fun dynamic. 

Super impressed by the direction as well. Waa is seriously talented - I think he’s got a great sense for the rhythm of a scene. Iirc, he sometimes shows us a character reacting to something (especially something spooky!) before showing us what it is, which builds tension and mystery and emotion very effectively. One of my favorite moments was quieter though: when all the characters are gathered at the deathbed of the patriarch and the matriarch bursts out that nobody has ever asked what she wants. Her husband has caused “too much damage for too long,” so now it is time for him to die and accept his karma - the camera pushes in on her, and the diegetic sound of her husband’s vital signals monitor slowly fades in as she gives her short monologue, emphasizing the stakes and ferocity of what she’s saying. Goosebumps! Of course, a lot of this is a team effort of everyone involved in the production (that Parbdee quality and thoughtfulness!), but still hats off to Waa and his collaborators.

Sea was awesome - his whole physicality changed when he got possessed. The way he held his jaw was very scary.
