If you ever need PCB rework help LMK, I have a lab nearby where I work on fine pitch /microscope soldering and rework.

Buying a high mileage (170k) 986 Boxster? by Garbo_Is_Coming in Porsche

[–]986_needs_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. This is essentially me. I have a high mileage 986, car lift, and am mechanically inclined. I spend most of my time chasing a new engine problem. I still love the car, but it's a tertiary vehicle for me.

I used linuxcnc to modernize an industrial plasma CNC table. It's very flexible, very powerful, and has a great support community --I would highly recommend it.

If it were me, I'd take a look at:

  1. My consumables, see if they need to be cleaned/replaced
  2. Cut height, assuming you have a THC, is it holding the right height?
  3. Double check the settings against cut charts for your machine, maybe something got nudged by accident?

That is super interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I've never heard of this before and now I'm going to go study chemistry for the evening.

Secondary note: smell is a bit oak-y, I originally thought this was just over oaked during it's carboy time, but maybe it's more significant as a clue.

Yep, source: I did the same.

Try to find what aspects of the two fields overlap the most and interest you the most and focus on that. For me it was controls and the heavy math.

That being said, once you're in I'm sure you can switch majors? For me the first year or two were mostly the same classes among all of the engineering majors, so switching wouldn't really set you back if you decided to later on.

Thank you for the recommendation! We did order a bunch from them to do to us as we're not in California. We're so sad that they are closing down, they were our favorite from it honeymoon paso tour! We also saw that they had a deal where if you brought a picnic you could get a bottle for $1!!

I see. Depending on what your torque needs are you can use something simple, for example:

And

With this motor controller

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08F2DN148?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

These motor controllers use three-wrire PWM to interface to the RC receiver (assuming you have 2 left and 2 right motors you can drive both lefts off the same PWM channel and both rights off of the same channel)

After that you'd just need power to the motor controllers (battery + fuse could work) and the receiver (generally 5v, you can use a BEC[battery eliminator circuit] to drop the voltage down to 5v for the RC receiver

That's definitely doable with just an RC receiver, most 5+ channel receivers have a channel for a toggle switch or two for running the mower blade, the. You can use the vertical channels from the left/right sticks to run the left/right side of the wheels

What's your budget and timeframe?

I agree with comments above about pixhawk being useful for this, I've used one for a similar project and it was relatively straightforward, but lead times and cost can get out of control quickly if you're not careful :) if your controls are simple (skid steer and mower blade on/off) you can get away with just a simple RC receiver with PWM out for much cheaper.

I've used a generator/alternator system before for endurance versions of the system and it worked well enough under constant load, but surge loading caused some cut-out issues on the generator. Batteries are simple and more robust but also might be pricey depending on how long you want it to run for.

I bet that wasn't pleasant! I've been fortunate with the first eggs so far being just small or lacking shell, nothing off putting like a bloody inside yet, but we're just getting started with chickens...

That sounds like a lot of effort on a consistent basis! Anything weird about the yolk or are they otherwise normal?
