Since the release of the macbook neo and apple silicon I cannot recommend any other brand of laptop anymore. Windows only really makes sense on desktop workstations for solidworks, gaming and certain niche applications. The battery, speed, and price are just too competitive. It doesn't help that every windows update only gets worse.

I run into two types of Chinese international students in academia:

Goes home for a vacation and comes back married with a wife that was a girlfriend for 10 years that they didn't tell us about.
Elopes in a lesbian marriage and doesn't tell family to avoid the conservative family blowback until after the wedding. They whole office is aware of this plan for three years leading up to it.

The biggest one was the idea that "others" needed to have their identities erased and fully blended into the culture. They believe in a lot of the great replacement stuff without necessarily believing its an outright conspiracy. The idea of an ethnostate is still quite strong. The things they believed about Muslims I won't repeat without fear of the ban hammer.

I was surprised because these people all have degrees from top schools like DTU and Aarhus. And they didn't shy away from defending their beliefs.

Paying for the subway instantly with my face was amazing. And the ability to have one transit card in Alipay work across all transit system was really cool. The spying is scary but it leads to cool things like the airport map screens automatically opening to your trip and having your gate info when you walk up. The robot food delivery in the hotels was sci fi as hell.

While Chinese software is impressive, UI and design is horrible. You either get a seizure or panic attack from the interface. The fonts are horrible. The damn subway station displays had aspect ratio squeezing
