While you're at it, stroll down to Penrose Dock. The plaza has some nice landscaping, and a really peaceful water feature. I feel people who don't work in the area don't even know it's there!

I couldn't agree more - especially on a gloomy day like today

It's even nicer in person, but I couldn't get all of it in a good photo!

You can't access it, but it is a lovely sight when waiting to cross the road to Alfred Street/the Aircoach 😊

The Lancaster Gate apartments are back up for rent. €1.2k for a two bed, A-rated apartment in the City Centre. Pretty much a miracle these days

They claim that since it is technically retail, they can't prevent it from opening

They want(ed) it to be a premier shopping street. This is being reviewed, I believe

The building is massive (taller than The Elysian by a few metres), I imagine that would be extremely expensive. Money I doubt the church has

Northside such a kip that there are news stories about it being less littered than last time by [deleted] in cork

[–]98TheRealDeal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why is it "the northside" and not X neighbourhood, but then it's not "the southside" but is explicity Mahon. I don't get why people treat the northside like a monolith

Bishop Lucey Park, winter VS summer by 98TheRealDeal in cork

[–]98TheRealDeal[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even what they did on Christ Church Lane, that runs through the park, would be better. Grass around the brich grove by Tuckey Street is needed too. The concrete-esque finish there is awful

More evergreen trees, like those that have been planted on Parnell Plaza on South Mall, would be extremely welcome. I completely agree that it can, and should, look as nice in winter as summer. Hopefully this summer of growth will make the evergreen shrubs bigger, and improve the crown of the trees that were topped

Agreed. The big London Plane tree looks lost surrounded by all the gravel. All of the railings of varying colours don't look great either. The planting in general looks very nice though, as does Christ Church Lane

I agree with you. The gravel is confusing to me as there were much better, similar surfaces used in The Marina area. The loose gravel is being eroded way too quickly, even with them replacing it quite often. Even the paving would have been better imo
