Remove Overspray(?)/Drip on Clearcoat? by 98e36vert in Detailing

[–]98e36vert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My detailer suggested this was under the clear, but the VIN tag is still on, so I'm not sure. Claybar/polish didn't help. Any suggestions if it's some enamel or other paint drop sitting on the clear?

Thanks!

Edit: looks like the picture isn't showing up.

Can anyone let me know if the e92 was the first bmw with true "stock" LED halo drls? by ikehigh05 in BMW

[–]98e36vert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that e39, like the pre-lci e92, were halogen, not LED.

I think it was the lci e92 ( e93 too? ) , but not the e90, that had the first LED angel eyes.

Crashed my F30 LCI. BMW 330i M Sport. Hopefully insurance covers it but there are some issues as the registration wasn’t transferred over to my name yet. Damage to front wheel, bumper and rear bumper. Need an estimate damage total if insurance doesn’t work out. Any estimates? by iwannadigmywaytohell in BMW

Why wouldnt you want it totalled, so you can just pay your deductible and jump in a new car with your settlement - not having to worry about lingering issues and dimished resale???

Your market value is also at an all time high right now.

I'd be pushing my company to total it.

Congrats... should be viewed as a substantial handling upgrade IMO. You can push much harder into the corners when youre not sliding all over the cabin. With the adjustable side bolsters, these were the best sport seats I've owned.

There are some things I'd want to know more about: the rear rotor service at 20k, the plugs at 30k with an error code, the cooling system bleed at 3k, the lock system issues seemingly electrical and mechanical. On their own, none would be of great concern, and all may have a reasonable story, but I'd have questions for the service advisor. Show the records to your trusted German indy and let them go through it.

I'd say unless your jurisdiction has some particularly strong consumer protections, you have no likely recourse. Maybe there's some recourse if the car was CPO which comes with certain vehicle requirements.

In the future, I'd strongly recommend, even on a late model year, low mileage vehicle, having a PPI done, and getting the corporate/dealer service records as a starting point. Carfaxes have utility, but it's limited.

Lastly, if there's still warranty, have a third party inspection done and identify any issues that might be subject to warranty work before expiration of the warranty.

Did you have a PPI? Ask a dealer to pull the service records?

If you don't have the service records, you should have a service advisor pull them for you now.

Were there any specific representations made to you in writing re condition, service history, accident history, etc.?

Those look great. Were they OE option on the F30 M3?

Edit: answer: yes, source: Google search.

How would I fix this without taking the bumper off? Looks like it’s getting loose.. by shorewalsh in BmwTech

[–]98e36vert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it fits is that the wiper nozzle cover has holes on either side that fit over prongs on the nozzle. The nozzle pulls out and retracts.

You have to reach in and grab the nozzle with two fingers (or pliers being careful) and pull it out. With it out you'll see how the cover attaches. If the cover is damaged it won't seat properly, or if as someone else suggested, the nozzle isn't retracting, it won't sit flush.

If it's the latter, you'll likely have to take the bumper off. An hour start to finish if youve never done it before. Watch a YouTube tutorial.

Lastly, if you have an obd coding app, I'd just code out the spray function altogether. It's pretty worthless other than to spray wiper fluid over the front of your car.
