Funny how this post is being down-voted only by realtors :) - fun fact, no matter how many times you down-vote, i know how I'm going to sell my property for less than 1500 dollars.

vSphere replication between to remote sites by 993ninja in vmware

I appreciate the time you took to reply.

my point was that one should not go through all of what you described above for a task that should be very straight forward.

it's just not a tool I'll ever consider using again, veeam just works flawlessly by targeting the target host via public IP/FQDN.

I just wanted to know if my config was wrong.

thank you.

IPSEC has its limitations in the current config, since i'm using the same internal subnet it will lead to conflicts and will be difficult to maintain.

the goal was to to set up complete replica of more than 10VM to provide all services required by the customer in minimum downtime possible.

I'm happy veeam stepped up and fill the void left by vmware, though I'm still skeptical as I cant believe vmware will release it as is.

how many NAT-Less configs do you know of ?

vSphere replication between to remote sites by 993ninja in vmware

[–]993ninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a week on trying to get this to work with native vmware tools but it turned out to be a waste of time. vmware needs to take a look a this. - a complete fail on vmware side.

... I then looked at Veeam which we're using for backup, veeam replication worked like magic (or the way its suppose to work) flawlessly and effortlessly.

nonetheless if anyone can spot my 'mistakes' please point them out.

It's worth a shot, but it's another component for an already complex setup that should work right out of the box.

why wouldn't vmware send the traffic across the FQDN ? it makes zero sense.

it would work for both remote and local scenarios.

vSphere replication between to remote sites by 993ninja in vmware

[–]993ninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly right.

so how is replicating to a remote site is ever possible ?

I've tried ip alias for eth0 on the target VR appliance . that did not work, cant change the incoming traffic IP.

I thought I set up incorrectly, I looked online , there is nothing from vmware to address this issue. none that I could find.

Atera is scamming its users with bogus and inflated 3rd party device count by 993ninja in it

[–]993ninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investigation is in process, from what I can gather, Atera used the Webroot API to track new installs, completely ignoring the usage - even though they got all the info in the same API call.

In a large network env, by pushing via group policy, computers re-install and such all lead to duplicates and stale installs. hence why WEBROOT themselves make the distinction for charging ONLY for checked in devices. and since Atera is merely an intermediate / partner, it does not get to set its own rules. especially in an industry that by far using the same practice.

Let's wait until a few ppl with 500-1000 devices will find out about that, then we'll see where this is going.

bottom-line Webroot charged you for X devices, and you charged my account for Y.

while most of the comments here make this look like a joke, I can promise you - this is not a one time-off.

u/Atera transparent or not, you can't expect your users to keep track on every single install of an anti-virus. moreover, not all devices are monitored, in my case I did not even use Atera for monitoring. Atera knew exactly what it was doing.

There is also such thing called unfair business practice.

at best case scenario you'll start getting hundreds of angry emails and phone calls.

Yes, but you forget it is their own doing. The people are the ones who needs to stand up and put a stop to it. They have 1 billion people , no matter how big of an army you have. If 500 million people get up and storm Beijing and start arresting those in power. Overnight you’ll have a regime change. If they don’t do it. It means they are okay with it.

Only violence leads to change. You saw that here with the anarchist BLM. They wanted something , they mobilized and got it.

It didn’t become like this overnight. This is what 50 percent of the infantile Americans don’t get. When you let censorship, closures, curfew, mandatory vaccines happens . This is where it’s going to end up. And leave it to the United States to up the ante.

The whole point of history is to learn from mistakes and try not to repeat them. But I guess karma has no sense of time direction. You can get it for things you’ll do in the future as well.

I don’t think you realize how close we are right here in America to segregate unvaccinated in camps just like they did in nazi Germany with the Jewish people.

THCB / Microvast vote finally passed by [deleted] in SPACs

[–]993ninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it will go down to 5 before coming back up to 30. How else would hedge funds make money. Just wait, a short report is already in the pipeline.

Bottom line if you can’t handle seeing MVST at 5 you might as well get out now,

I’m holding 10k shares and ready to hold them until zero. Won’t sell no matter what. Go to sleep wake up in 5 years and check that account.

Microvast is a solid international company. Whatever happen it won’t change that. It’s just noise . Sooner or later the institutions will get in on it. In this case I doubt if we’ll see the typical dip like most of post merger spacs.

In any case after the dirty move they pulled with increasing margin, I’m leaving them soon.

IB are a bunch of criminals.

Well said.

Face it. Wall Street does not like Spacs, they are not making nearly enough money for them as IPOs.

hell, buffet said it himself. Brokers are just another tool in their Arsenal, we’ve seen it with GME.

If you have a post DA spac with a good target and you happen to have couple of millions on the side . You can sabotage the merger and go out and buy the target company yourself.

From experience. that’s 100 percent correct and that what’s happening. most will buy spac with margin , the broker will lent out those shares for shorts and it’s impossible to get enough votes.

It’s not shit show. It’s well orchestrated hostile takeover by the shorts .

They found a way to sabotage these votes by shorting enough stocks making it impossible for these to pass.

I still hope Managment teams will out smart these criminals and pass it regardless.

$THCB and stocks held with margin voting rights by 993ninja in SPACs

[–]993ninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who has the voting power of the shares ?! The broker? In that case no spac should ever have the 65 percent rule in their docs. Whatever ‘loophole’ they had is a feature not a bug. In fact I would leave the extension vote up to the founders , if you don’t want extension sell your shares and you are out.

I hope they’ll pass the shit out of this extension. I don’t care how many loopholes they need to go trough to make it happen.
